One with the Afterlife: RIP Ivan Reitman

This just in.

Famed movie producer and director Ivan Reiman has died on February 12th, 2022. He was 75 years old. Born in Czechoslovakia, his parents were Hungarian Jews, his mother survived the Holocaust while his father was underground resistance fighter. They moved to Canada as refugees when he was 4 years old. Since then, Reitman settled down on his new life and became of the greatest producers and directors in motion picture.

For the longest time, the genre he excels the most in movies were comedies. He was involved in some of the most funniest movies in all of cinema, movies like Animal House, Stripes, Meatballs, Twins, Kindergarten Cop, Space Jam, and my most favorite of them all, Ghostbusters. He wasn't much into TV as much as he did movies, but he was the executive producer for that short lived western animated/Japanese anime hybrid, Mummies Alive! (You could read more of that in my Toon Ninja Reviews of Mummies Alive! for more information).

Reitman is survived by his wife and 3 children, including his son, Jason, who not only cameoed in both Ghostbusters II and in Kindergarten Cop, but he also directed the long-awaited true sequel to the original movie, Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

To Ivan Reitman, son of Jews and a proud movie maker. Let your movies continue to tickle our funny bone, no matter what decade. Godspeed, good sir. See you in the crossroads.
