 The Retro Rebellion Presents: Disney Theories

Theories about our favorite Franchises have been thrown out there for as long as the internet has been around. We all love theories,so I figured,how about some about our favorite Disney (and pixar) franchises.

Now to keep things short,in whats to be a very long post,I'm only gonna be focusing on Disney's Animated stuff. 

Now let's get started.

Ariel Has God Blood 

Let's start with something common.  It's said that King Triton,Ariel's father is the Son of Poseiden,Greek God of the Sea,thus making the Red-headed Princess and her Sisters,Demi-Gods. This theory holds merit,as not only is King Triton share a name with Poseiden's Son,but he has a Grandfather named Neptune,named after the Roman God of the Sea. 

Now there are conflicting stories as to whether or they're the same god or 2 seperate entities. If the former is true,then King Triton may be indeed the Son of Poseiden. But if the latter is true,then King Triton isn't Poseiden's Son,but the Son of the Child of Neptune.

Reguardless of which one of these is true,Ariel,her Sisters,and King Triton may have divine blood running through them.

I think there might be some credibility to this. As King Triton himself is a pretty strong guy. And his Super Powerful Trident might've once belonged to the gods. Ariel herself is shown to be strong as well.

Anyway,this brings us to our next Little Mermaid theory and one that's kinda related to this one.

Ursula and King Triton are Related

There is Theory going around that states that Ursula,the Evil Sea Witch and King Triton are either Cousins or Siblings. This theory stems from an early draft for the Movie,where Ursula was the Sister of King Triton,exiled from the Palace for doing malicious things. But they became unrelated,in the final draft.

This concept was revisited in various stage play adaptions of the Movie,but nowhere else. There were also some theories that say that Ursula and Triton were/are Cousins. Though this one isn't as widespread as the 'Siblings' theory.

If the Siblings Theory is true and the Triton/Poseiden/Neptune Theory is true,then Ursula herself has divine blood running through her as well.

This theory could be true,but giving that Ursula seems to be of a different "Mer" species,I kinda doubt it. Unless Ursula was adopted,but I doubt it. And even if she was,she woudn't have that divine blood that her adoptive family does.

The Destroyed and Sunken Ship Belonged to King Agnarr and Queen Iduna

So it goes like this,The sunken ship in the Little Mermaid is suposedly the same Ship that once belonged to Iduna and Agnarr. And that their ship sunk near Denmark,where The Little Mermaid take place. It's unclear wether or not this is true.

Scar is Adopted

There's reason to believe that Scar is adopted. 1 - He looks very little like his parents and his Brother,Mufasa. And 2 - He has different fur color than moat of the lions in the pridelands.

So there's reason to believe that Scar is adopted. And if that's the case,then Scar was Never in-line for,or has a right to,the Throne,all due to him not being of Royal Blood. It Also explains why Simba was chosen as Mufasa's successor,even though Scar was older and more experienced as a leader.

The Mystery of Andy's Hat

Toy Story's Andy is rarely seen without his Cowboy hat...especially during playtime. Take a good look at it. Notice anything strange? That's right,the hat is shaped like Woody's,but it's colored like Jessie's. 

But why is this? I have a theory..5,infact. #1 - Woody's Hat (in-universe) was originally redish,but was changed during the shows run. And that Andy's hat was made early on in the Woody's Round-Up Merch Line.

#2 - The Hat color was an (in-universe) mistake. The hat manufacturer simply screwed-up and corrected themselves with later hats.

#3 - The Hat color was an (irl) mistake by Pixar themselves. And when Pixar realised their error,they decided to say "Screw It" and just let it be. It didn't hurt the movie in anyway,so it was alright.

#4 - Woody's Hat color (in-univers or in real life)Was gonna be Red,but was changed to Brown during late-production. And that Andy's hat color was an error all along.

And #4 - It belonged to an unproduced/unreleased Woody's Round-Up character. The show was canned pre-maturely,so who's to say that there weren't more episodes and characters planned. And that all that's left of this unreleased character was a prematurely produced hat. Kinda interesting,if you think about it.

Aladdin takes place in the Far Far Future.

There's this weird,but believable,theory that Aladdin doesn't take place in the past,but in an post-apocolyptic future.This is kinda believable due to the Genie,who makes references to,and conjures up things from the Modern Era (well,modern for '92,at least)

How would he know of such things if he was trapped in the lamp for 10,000 years Aladdin's time,which supposedly takes place in the past? The Genie is either has omega clairvoyance (the ability to see into all the various eras of the future) OR he was trapped in Present Time,making the movie take place in the future..a post-apocalyptic future,where civilization was forced to start over. That would explain how he knows about the "Modern" stuff.

Interesting theory with some merit.

Boo from Monsters Inc. is The Old Witch from Brave.

There's another big theory that Boo from Monsters Inc. is the Witch from Brave. Something about Adult Boo reverse-engineering a Door from Monsters Inc. to find Sully,but ends up trapped in medieval Scotland instead,where she learned magic and became a well known witch. She has never rally given up on finding her long-lost friend.

It's a strange theory,and may seem far-fetched. But,since the Witch looks like an elderly version of Boo,this could be true.

Snow White's Prince is either The Grim Reaper or a Grim Reaper in-training.

Theory has it that Snow White actually Did die from that Poison Apple and that the Prince was,in reality either a Reaper In-Training or The Grim Reaper himself,come to take the Princess away to the land of the dead. 

I think this theory is crazy,but at the same time, kinda cool.

The Wicked Queen and Mother Gothel are the same person.

They share similar facial features and have daggers that look alike,but Tangled: The Series has debunked this theory. Even though Gothel was born Centuries before the events of Tangled and could theoretically hail from Snow White's time,Tangled: the Series says otherwise through Gothel's origin story.

Plus,Disney explicitly stated that The Wicked Queen Died in Snow White. So Theory Debunked.

Jane Porter is a descendant of Belle 

Rumor has it that Jane from Tarzan is descended from Belle from Beauty and tbe Beast. This comes from the fact that Jane and Belle look a bit alike And that Jane owns a tea set that resembles Mrs. Potts and Chip.

I think this might be just a coincidence. But,who knows.

Tarzan's Lost Relations.

Tarzan is Elsa and Anna's long lost little brother,born from King Agnarr and Queen Aduna,who got stranded in Africa on their way home from wherever they were. Frozen II and various Canon materials have fully debunked these theories.

The same can be said about Tarzan's relationship wkth Rapunzel. They aren't family in any way. Tangled the Series and various Tangled materials strongly confirm this.

However,There's a theory that Raps Is a cousin of Anna and Elsa. Unlike tbe Tarzan theories,this one could actually be true,as there is Nothing in Official Materials stating otherwise. They never confirm things either,but this familial connection is far more plausable than the ones with Tarzan.

Bob Iger is Related to Satan

This theory has been proven true in recent years. He is Satan's Cousin. I mean,Just look at his record of running Disney. It's evil and reverse on how Walt,Roy,or Eisner would run things. He's a Devil in the guise of a human. In fact,his real name is Beelzebob Oger.

Let's Fail: Anime Jason vs. Discovery Family - Episode 2: Discovery Kids: The Network That Wasn't!

Around the 1990s, after decades of being one channel, Discovery decided to extend their educational prowess by adding and creating more channels. From acquiring channels like TLC and The Travel Channel to creating newer ones, such as Animal Planet. By the time the 90s came to an end, Discovery Communications have a lot of channels at their disposal. However, there is one channel that, to this day, will change its format for good or for ill, but mostly ill. And that network is none other than...Discovery Kids.

Discovery Kids was launched on October 7th, 1996. Launched on the same day along with the channels that came with it, such as Discovery Civilization, Discovery Wings, Discovery Science, and Discovery Travel & Living. DK was formed in 1996, but it didn't take off fully until Marjorie C. Kaplan became this channel's senior vice president.

Marjorie Kaplan joined Discovery between 1996 and 1997. When she joined Discovery and help out with the channel establishment, Kaplan wanted to have a channel that has the same qualities as Discovery, but for kids. According to her, Discovery Kids was inspired by children who watches Discovery programming with their parents. Thus, giving Discovery the inscentive to green-lit this idea and make Kaplan its senior VP. Anyway, DK's target audience are children ages 6 to 11. Think Discovery Channel, but for kids. GET IT?!

Sorry, joking is not one of my strong points, mostly. Anyway, Discovery Kids' programming consists on shows that follow the Educational/Informational guidelines for little kids. More on that later. 

There are a lot of shows on Discovery Kids, but I can't list them all at once. But, I will mention the ones that are familiar to you and the ones that put DK on the map. Shows like The Magic School Bus, Timeblazers, Truth or Scare, The Save-Ums!, Flight 29 Down, Bindi the Jungle Girl, Endurance, Croc Files, The Saddle Club, Time Warp Trio, Tutenstein, and Kenny the Shark.

To extend DK's reach even further, its Canadian division formed a partnership with Corus Entertainment on September, 2001. Meanwhile, back in the states, on December of the same year, they form a partnership with NBC, resulting in forming the Discovery Kids on NBC block on September, 2002. Because of its success in the beginning and under Kaplan's leadership, DK earned 14 Daytime Emmy nominations in 2006. Discovery Kids had some promise in the beginning, but it didn't stay like this for long.

On September, 2006, DK's partnership with NBC ended, which resulted the end of its DK block itself. Their partnership ended due to a contract dispute and the fact that DK wants to focus solely on the channel itself. That decision alone ended up being their downfall. The DK on NBC block was replaced with by a new block from Qubo, which in turn was replaced by NBC Kids, and then replaced by another Edutainment block by those yahoos from Litton Entertainment, which has become the FCC's watchdogs against all of animation. Believe me, I got a lot to say about them. And I assure you, that my bark is as worse than their bite!

As for Discovery Kids itself, it showed promise in the beginning, but because of its politics and backstabbing, along with their deal with NBC falling apart, with the exception of its popular shows like Kenny the Shark, Tutenstein, Bindi the Jungle Girl, Endurance, Time Warp Trio and The Magic School Bus, the rest of Discovery Kids has become...well...a little help here, Pinkie.

But fate has intervined by 2009. As Discovery continues their same ol' song 'n dance, a familiar toy company, known for magical ponies, battle-hardened soldiers and transforming robots, decided to take a crack on television. With a promising premise, along with familiar people, past and present, by the time October, 2010 came about, everything, and I mean "Everything," came together.

NOT The End! - Self Reflection and the Coronavirus

 If you give a moment, I will explain why I haven't been blogging a whole lot here. Last year, was indeed, the toughest year I have to endure. 2020 started off without a problem. I got so much I wanted to do, from more fan letters to more fan art, video projects and not to mention more blogging. All that changed when a certain deadly virus came to our doorstep, the coronavirus, among other things. Because of the pandemic and every other bad thing happening, I had to step back and reflect on what I have been doing. When I first joined this blog site, I thought I could do more to make a difference, especially getting more people into our blog, but to no avail. Stefan and I are the only ones to carry this burden, but moreso with me. But with the pandemic, tending to my personal life, a country falling apart and not to mention idols like Norm Spencer (the definite version of Cyclops) passing away, I question myself, am I still worthy of making a difference, especially fighting for animation, voice actors' rights and helping those not to shoo away everything nostalgic, which was the purpose of Retro Rebellion? I know it's no excuse, but I thought you should understand. 

This country, nay, this world needs more free thinkers like ourselves. I am not going to let the pandemic and all the other problems in the world slow me down. Whether or not this is the end, this is the beginning. And like the phoenix, we will rise from the ashes. Can't guarantee what will happen, but I will fight on. I am truly sorry for not blogging much. I thought you should know why. Thank you for your time. Stay frosty.

What If?! - King Triton...a Villain?!

In the multiverse, everything is possible, especially with fictional characters. We all know the story about Ariel's father, King Triton. Triton, as we all know, is the ruler of Atlantica, the fabled home of the merfolk. He is not only a powerful king, but a caring, yet overprotective father, especially towards his youngest daughter, Ariel. Although mostly kind and benevolent, Triton has a terrible temper, which is equal to the power of his trident. His temper was a direct result from his xenophobia towards the humans at the time, especially with the apparent death of his wife, Queen Athena. But, with all the flaws, his temper and his misguided view of the humans, he is not a villain, through and through. In his normal reality, he is not a true villain like Ursula. But what if, what if, in an alternate reality, King Triton was an even more powerful villain than Ursula ever was? So, sit back and take notes. This is my theory of an alternate universe of The Little Mermaid, where King Triton was the villain instead of Ursula. Let us begin, shall we?

For starters, Evil King Triton's world is the same as the original, except for some differences. In this world, Ursula was benevolent sea-witch (where her counterpart back in the original world was evil and deceptive to the core), who has foreseen Triton's evil manifested first hand, but was killed by Triton after the fact. Next up, unlike the original, the merfolk of Atlantica can turn into human at will to travel on land. And above all else, both the human world and the merworld peacefully co-exists before Triton's turn to the dark side. With that being said, here is the scenario. Although it is the same as the prequel, Ariel's Beginning and the first movie, what happens after is completely different, especially when Ursula doesn't exist in this alternate reality.

After saving Prince Eric, Ariel returns to her grotto and sees a statue of the very prince she has rescued, a gift from her friend, Flounder. As she was crooning over the statue, her father shows up after Sebastian told him everything. Enraged, Triton berated Ariel over her fascination of the human world and when she proclaim her love for Eric, it set off Triton so hard, he destroyed every, single human object Ariel has collected, including the aforementioned statue of Eric. In the normal reality, Ariel would go to Ursula to make her human, provided that she loses her voice. But not in this reality. Ariel, feeling heartbroken her father's actions, runs away from her ocean world and lives with Eric, no missing voice whatsoever. As Ariel lives among the humans, Triton, instead of feeling a bit remorse and regret, his heart becomes more hardened and darkened as every day goes by. Feeling concerned, Attina, Ariel's older sister, asked her father where was Ariel. Triton thinks that she is still in her grotto crying. But Attina afforms him that she is not here, that she ran away from home and now living with the humans. After hearing that, Triton tells his oldest daughter to leave him be. Though he isn't furious, but deep down, Triton's rage was growing even higher, believing that the humans took Ariel away from her, just like Athena long ago. But in reality, Ariel chose to leave, fearing of what her father will do. And deep down, Attina feels the same way, which prompted her to swim to the surface and warn her youngest sister of their father and what he will do.

With his dark resolve, Triton declares war on the human world to bring Ariel back with him by force. And decrees that anyone who resists his order will be destroyed. Attina, aware of her father's dark amibtions, leaves Atlantica, along with her sisters and the rest of Ariel's friends to get to Ariel and Eric before Triton wipes out the humans from the face of the Earth. And down the road, Ariel gets captured by her own father, Attina and Eric formed a rebellion to liberate both Atlantica and the human world from Triton's dark rule, Triton craves more power to rule the universe and eventually, a brave warrior from another world will help the rebels save Ariel, defeat Triton and bring peace to both the human and mer worlds. But that's another story.
