The Cartoon Chronicles: Cartoon Network:

Before it's total ruination in the 2006,Cartoon Network was a network that I cherished watching. My Story with the Pre-snyder CN began in 1996,It was summer and I remember there was nothing to watch,so I tuned into Cartoon Network. and I liked what I saw. It wouldn't take long for this gem (now shit) of a network to become my absolute favorite.

Now before that time i was an advid Nickelodeon and Disney Channel watcher (mostly nick),but Nick moved into the number 2 slot and I almost completely forgotten about the Disney Channel. Cartoon Network was great back in the day. It was all cartoons all of the time, sure it had some lame stuff, but every network airs lame stuff. And thankfully the lame was overpowered by the cool.

Anyway back to my story, some of the shows that I remember watching during the Summer of '96 were: The Challenge of the Superfriends,Yogi Bear,Alvin and the Chipmunks, and the What-A-Cartoon! Show. I also watched Captain Planet and the Planeteers (go planet!),The Centurions (power extreme!),and Thundarr. I also enjoyed watching Looney Tunes. Sometime later (in 1997),I began watching Cartoon Networks 3 original series,Dexters Lab,Johnny Bravo, and Cow and Chicken. I also began watching Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet.

I had such a great time watching Cartoon Network. However, the best was yet to come. In the summer of 97,I got into Toonami, the greatest block on Cartoon Network. As well as Cartoon Cartoon fridays. I was hooked on those blocks until their crapification in the 2k years. It was because of Toonami, that I became a fan of Anime and the art style. I watched that block religiously ever since i started watching it. I still remember the initial line-up.  Thundrcats,Voltron, and the Real Adventures of Johnny Quest. Thundercats and Voltron I tapped (along with sailor moon, when it was on the USA network. but that's a story for another time).

I wasn't a 'Real Adventures of Johnny Quest' fan until 1998. That's why I didn't tape it. Moltar was the host of Toonami during that time and I soon became a fan of his. Another thing I recall from the 'Moltar' Years of Toonami were the DC superhero shorts from the 50's,60's,and early 70's. And when Sailor Moon began airing on Toonami,I was thrilled. I even taped a few eps.

Cartoon Cartoon Fridays also gave me plesent memories. I explained that in my last edition of Cartoon Chronicles,so I'm not going to talk about it here.

Another great thing about CN,were The bumpers and station ID's,they were were very fun to watch. as were the promos. I also watched Adult Swim the first 3 years it was on (before it became a toxic pool). I mostly watched it for the Anime. I even taped some.

In 2005,Cartoon Network fell out of favor with me,though I still watched it from time to time. I mostly watched Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. CN went from being my #1 Network to being my #3. I began disliking it in '06 and ignored it all together in '07. Today I hate CN and what it's become.

I will always have fond memories of what Cartoon Network once was. It was dear to me,but perverted executive meddeling turned me against it.

This has been another edition of The Cartoon Chronicles.

Factoid

There is no equivalent of the "F" word in Japanese, therefore any use of that word in an Anime or Game translation is mere "spicing up" by the translators.

Another explanation for the use of that word is that the Japanese writers written the word in English or Engrish.

While there Are a couple of Japanese words for 'Sex' and 'To Have Sex',those words are Never ever used as slang. Therefor the F-bomb is never said in Japanese media, unless it's said in English (or engrish).

Another factoid, wich is somehat related,Is that, these days,a lot of Japanese games and anime have a lot of english usage.

Yet Another Factoid: Japanese Subtitles Also have English in them. Also, Japanese Subbers (both amateur and pro) tend to crap up translations..,like their english counterparts,

Neo-Capitalism!

For Weeks you've heard me talk about Neo-Capitalism and kept asking me what that is.

What Neo-Capitalism is is the art of Lying,Cheating,Brainwashing, and Strong Greed in Business (all kinds). Irresponsibility and Selfishness are also part of Neo-Capitalism. Neo-Capitalists are Both Power and Money Starved and They'll do Anything to satisfy their craving...and I do mean Anything. They don't give a shit Who they hurt, kill,or corrupt as long as they get what they want. They also have a huge Egos.

They're Thugs...Egotistical Greedy Thugs with no sense of decency. They have Very Vile Values and should be rightfully treated as Scum of the Earth. Why we allow such Things to run our businesses (especially our media orgs) is beyond me. Then again, our culture has become so corrupt that we actually Like having these Putrid Monsters running things.

Of course,America isn't the Only place with a Neo-Capitalist Infestation, although we caused the infestation and have the most severe case. Almost Every damn country in the world has this problem...Including Japan.

Neo-Capitalism just Pisses me off. Now,I consider myself a Retro Capitalist, someone who puts integrity and honesty in front of Money making. And Unlike Them,We Retro Capitalists don't crave power and don't want much of it. We also don't act like thugs. We look out for the best interest of the people and are not selfish nor egotistical.

Sadly,We Retro Capitalists are a dying breed and almost all Mainstream Businesses (especially the entertainment industry) are run by Neo-Capitalists.

For those not in the know,Neo means New,and at times,Modern. And Capitalism is a word that describes buisness, mainly the corperate system. So in conclusion,Modern Day Capitalists are the Evil ones, while the Old School Capitalists are the Good Guys.

Stay Gold!

Why Retro Gaming is Superior To Modern Gaming

1 - Extreme Cursing Was Kept To A Minimum..Infact,All Cursing Was Kept To A Minimum (most of the time..anyway).

2 - They Were More Diverse,Meaning(for the most part)They Appealed To Everyone,Unlike a Majority of Todays Games.

3 - The Heroes and Icons Were Cool and Not Retards or Twisted SOB's. Infact,Most VG Characters Of Yesteryear had class and were admirable.

4 - Strong Sexual Content Was(for the most part)Absent.

5 - Little to No Voice Acting Outside of Cutscenes. It's Way Fun To Do The Voices Yourself.

6 - No Hollywood Influence. Most games today are Influenced by Hollywood's Garbage...as proven in the Dialogue and Overall Writing. Video Games should be Games and Not Hollywood Movies.

7 - No Cutscene Domination. Most Games Today are dominated by long cutscenes. I know it's to advance the story, but still.
Note: Also Most(not all though)M-Rated Games back in the 90's didn't use extreme cursing at all. And they were only Rated Mature because of the Violence,Blood,Gore, andGraphic Scenes.
And the ones that did, used those words sparingly..unlike today.

Note: Another thing wrong with Games today is that there are too many Cutscenes. I know a game's gotta have a story, but Game Companies over do it with Cutscenes. They are oftentimes long too. Gamers don't play Games for the CutScenes. If they wanna watch Movies, they'll watch DVDs.

Note: Though I'm a hardline Retro Gamer,I acknowlage that not all Retro Games were good (but the majority of them are/were.). And Just because a Modern game has a 2D-esque look to it,doesn't mean it has the heart and soul of a Retro Game.

The big exception is the GBA,since the system has the heart and soul(and feel) of a true retro system.

Even though You may not agree with these,Fact of the matter is that Most,if not All,of these reasons are Totally Valid.
