This just in!
Famed Welch singer Bonnie Tyler died on July 8th 2026 from complications from perforated intestine. She was 75 years old. Tyler, real name Gaynor Sullivan, with her distinct husky voice, was best known for songs like Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out for a Hero (the latter was used in any capacity in movies like Footloose and Short Circuit 2, and arrangements in movies like Shrek 2 performed by Elizabeth Saunders (Fairy Godmother) and became the anthem of those with steel-willed determination to fight on, no matter the odds).
And from the world of music and into the movies. New Zealand actor Sam Neill died on July 13th 2026 from multiple health problems despite being cancer-free since 2022. He was 78 years old. Born of Irish and New Zealand descent, Neill appeared in such movies as Sleeping Dogs (1977), My Brilliant Career (1979), The Final Conflict (1981), Possession (1981), Evil Angels (1988), Dead Calm (1989), Death in Brunswick (1990), The Hunt for Red October (1990), The Piano (1993), In the Mouth of Madness (1994), Event Horizon (1997), The Dish (2000) and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016). However, he was best known for playing the paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant from the Jurassic Park series.
I'm sorry I couldn't do any eulogies on these two, but remembering their performances have shaped our childhood, especially with bangers that get our blood pumping and learning about dinosaurs while not getting eaten by them.
Godspeed you too. May the better angels guide you to peace.
