English Cover Art with the Moon and Sun with Ami in between. |
Japanese Cover Art, a recreation of the bellydancing end scene from Lupin III: The Secret of Twilight Gemini. |
Behold! I present to you my latest artwork and this one is another long time in the making, especially being a fan of Sailor Moon, particularly being a fan of our lovely brainiac, Ami Mizuno aka Sailor Mercury. And why is Ami dressed up as a beautiful, exotic bellydancer, you ask? I'll tell you. The reason Ami is a bellydancer in those two custom made cover arts, that would be perfect for a compilation music album, whether in vinyl, or in CD form or as a music download, was the fact it is a small tribute to Ami's original Japanese voice, Aya Hisakawa, who also did other voices, such as Kero from Cardcaptor Sakura, Bulma in Dragon Ball Super after the passing of her original seiyuu, Hiromi Tsuru and of course, the Geltic rebel, Lara from the Lupin III special, The Secret of Twilight Gemini. Speaking of which, Aya is not only a voice actress, but also a very talented singer. She did many J-Pop songs around her career between voice overs and music, but the two songs she sang became my favorite and there were from the aformetioned Lupin special. The songs are Harukana Kaze (Wind in the Distance) and most importantly, the end theme itself, Tsuki to Taiyou no Meguri (Joining of the Moon and Sun), which played in the ending where Lara was bellydancing, just like her predecessor, Lorre.
And these cover arts are a tribute to such a lovely talent. Here's to you, Ms. Hisakawa. Thank you for making Ami so cute and so smart, but also making Tsuki to Taiyou no Meguri a must for all our bellydancer fantasies to come. Until next time, stay frosty and to quote Ami herself...
Douse yourself with water, and repent!
