Toodleloo, Big Bird! RIP Caroll Spinney

This is a Retro Rebellion Special Report

Carol Spinney, renowned puppeteer for Sesame Street has died on December 8, 2019. He was 85. Spinney, for over 30 years, starting in 1969, was best known for portraying two of the most popular characters on Sesame Street, Oscar the Grouch and most importantly, Big Bird. Through his portrayal of both Oscar and Big Bird, he brought a smile to every child and those who are children at heart in his wake. He played as both Oscar and Big Bird until his retirement on October 17, 2018 due to his medical condition called Dystonia, which causes muscle contractions. Big Bird and Oscar have since been passed on to other performers like Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson respectively, but for the longest time, when we think of Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, we think of one man, Caroll Spinney. He will be missed. His kind-heartedness will live on for all eternity.

Toodleloo, good sir. Be at peace.
