2016 has proven once again that no matter what age you are or how healthy you are, death is right near your doorstep. Which is the case of the following people who passed.
First off, Japanese Seiyu, Yuko Mizutani, has died of Breast Cancer (CANCER, ALWAYS CANCER!). She was 51. Although I don't know much about her, but she has done voices in anime, video games and so forth, such as Sora from Digimon, Iris from Megaman X4, Minnie Mouse (contrast to her English speaking counterpart, Russi Taylor) and just recently, as Usagi's mother, Ikuko Tsukino from the reboot, Sailor Moon Crystal. It's just sad, known to this day, there is no known cure for cancer. It such a cure was found, she would've lived. Chemotherapy alone will only accelerate the death sentence even further. And that's just sad.
Speaking of which, what makes it more sadder is the fact that Alan Young died, not long after Ms. Mizutani's passing. He was 96 (what a trooper). Young was a character actor who appeared mostly in television and some movies. But, he is best known not only as Wilbur Post from Mister Ed, but he was also the voice of the Richest Duck in the World, Scrooge McDuck, who started voicing him in Mickey's Christmas Carol and into Ducktales. Young continued to voice Scrooge throughout the next decade, not just with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, but also with Ducktales Remastered until the very end.
With that said, here's to both Ms. Mizutani and Mr. Young. Thank you for all the good memories for all animation. Guess joking about a seamonster eating ice cream won't be so funny now. :'(
