Jason's Gallery - Kasumi: Free-Spirited Maiden

In her times in self-exile from the Mugen Tenshin clan, aside from her school uniform, Kasumi's casual outfit is a subtle ensemble, which reflects her beauty, innocence and gentle nature. Mostly for warm spring and hot summer days, she usually wear her outfit, just to feel like a normal teenage girl, not bounded by her shinobi heritage, and wears it for hanging out with her friends outside her village, like her beloved commoner, Ryo Sanada, the benevolent leader of the Ronin Warriors, and her honorary sister, Usagi Tsukino aka Sailor Moon. Her favorite golden yellow ribbon, which was the key to her hairstyle of her choosing, is wrapped on her left arm, a symbol of her free-spirited nature and her shinobi roots. Whatever Kasumi ends up, know this, wherever the cherry blossoms flow, Kasumi's gentle smile will always warm our hearts.

Note: Kasumi's casual outfit was inspired by many sources, namely the type of outfit worn by Elie from Rave Master, and a simliar looking outfit she wore in DOA5. As for her footwear, instead of sneakers, I give her brown leather sandals, which makes her feel like a cherry blossom goddess. Truly a beautiful shinobi princess to the last.

Jason's Gallery - Hayate x Hitomi: Trusting Embrace

Despite coming from different backgrounds, Hayate, the master ninja of the Mugen Tenshin and Hitomi, the perky commoner karateka, never been so madly in love with one another.

Deep in the very Black Forest where they first met, Hitomi, the lovely karateka full of kindness and innocence, embraces the very person she nursed back to health after escaping a DOA Germany facility and helps him with his long journey to regain his lost memories under his old alias, Ein, Hayate, the Shinobi of the Wind and the 18th and current grandmaster of the Mugen Tenshin clan. Despite their different paths, Hitomi being a commoner and Hayate being a ninja master, their love for one another couldn't be more absolute.

Hitomi: "Oh, Hayate! I thought I would never see you again, with your duties as a ninja master and all."

Hayate: "Well, despite my duties as the grandmaster of the Mugen Tenshin, that will not stop me from seeing you. Since the day we met, you helped guided me to regain my memories and find myself. I would still be lost, if it wasn't for you. Thank you, Hitomi."

Hitomi: "You're welcome."

Hayate: "Remember, wherever you go, I will always watch over you."

Hitomi: "Hayate, my brave ninja protector. Hey, if you are not too busy, we can spar for a little bit."

Hayate: "Of course. I am never too busy to spar with my lovely commoner."

Every Nintendo 3DS Game I've Ever Played

Now, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the FinalList of Games that I've played. This one focusing on the 3DS. As always, This list is for Archive Purposes.

I got the 3DS for X-Mas in 2012, along with 2 Games - Super Street Fighter IV and Mario Kart 7. My 3DS Library is the smallest out of all of my handhelds. I also mainly play my DS titles on the 3DS now, due to convenience.

Super Street Fighter IV - 3D Edition - My first experience playing Street Fighter IV and I really enjoyed it.

Mario Kart 7 - I love me some Mario Kart, despite me sucking at them.

Super Smash Bros 3DS -  Got this for X-Mas of 2014. And... It's Super Smash Bros for the 3DS!!!!! That was Really Incredible. It's Super Smash Bros you can play on the go. Plus, the Roster was better than it's ever been.

Dr.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine -   Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2014. See my List of Game Gear Games to read my opinion of this game.

Super Mario Bros. 3 - Downloaded it via the 3DS Virtual Console in 2014. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Excitebike 3D - An enhanced version of Exitebike that I downloaded in 2015 via the 3DS Shop in 2015. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Mighty Final Fight - A tough 8-bit Beat'em Up that I downloaded via the 3DS Virtual Console in 2016. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Sonic Drift II - I downloaded Sonic Drift via the 3DS Virtual Console in 2017. This is basically Mario Kart, but with Sonic Characters. I enjoy this game quite a bit.

Pac-Man - I downloaded it via the 3DS Virtual Console in 2017. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Donkey Kong 3 - Another game I downloaded via the 3DS Virtual Console in 2017. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Super Mario Maker 3DS - This is my final 3DS title. One that I got for X-Mas in 2018. A watered down port of Super Mario Maker for the WiiU, but still enjoyable.

And That does it for this list, which will be the last one in this series...for now, at least. I gotta complete my Switch Library first.

So until next time, Space Cowboys - Punch a Nazi in the Face, Kick a Commie in the Balls, Resist Modern Attitudes, and Stay Gold.

Every Sony Playstation 3 Game I've Ever Played

The next list of game's I ever played will focus on the Playstation 3. This will be the Penultimate List, so it's almost over. And as always, This list is for Archive Purposes.

I received my PS3 for X-Mas of 2013 and would be the last Sony console that I'd own. Also, My PS3 Library is very small, not as small as my 3DS Library, but still small.

WWE '12, WWE '13, and Soul Caliber V - Got these games for X-Mas of 2013, along with my PS3. WWE '12 and 13 were my first Wrestling games since 1999. Long time, I know. The controls for these games could've been better, but still both WWE '12 and WWE '13 are fine games, with great customization options. Plus,WWE '13 allowed players to create their own Titles, a staple for the series going forward. As for Soul Caliber V. I loved the combat and the fact that you could create your own warrior. You could also customize the main roster too. This game gets a bad rep. But this is actually a good game.

Super Street Fighter II - HD Remix - The very first game I Downloaded via the Playstation Store in 2014. It's Super Street Fighter II Turbo with HD Anime-ish Graphics. The Soundtrack benefited greatly from this upgrade.

WWE 2k14 - A game I would get in 2014 for X-Mas. WWE 2k14 is an improved version of WWE '13. It's heavily Wrestlemania focused and contains a whopping 100 slots for custom characters. This is my favorite WWE game.

Marvel v Capcom Origins - I downloaded the Demo for this game (via the playstation store) in 2015. I needed to play MvC again, but I didn't have the funds to get the whole game, so I downloaded the demo and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, by the time I Did get enough funds, the game was pulled from the Playstation Store. Damn!

Virtua Fighter V - I downloaded this game via the Playstation Store in 2016. My first and Only experience with this long running Sega franchise. Fun game and the customization is great.

FirePro Wrestling Returns - I downloaded it via the Playstation Store in 2017. The FirePro Wrestling franchise is a Japanese Wrestling series, with only a few entries that made it outside of Japan, this game was one of them. Great customization, fun game, but a very hard one to master.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse - As a Dragon Ball fan, I was all in on this. So, in 2018, I downloaded it via the Playstation Store.  DBXV is a 3D Beat'em Up with JRPG elements. This is a very very tough game. But, at least you can create your own Dragon Ball OC. And later on, you can learn skills from the Main Cast of the Franchise.

And That does it for this list. Next, and final, one is for my 3DS. So until next time, Space Cowboys - Punch a Nazi in the Face, Kick a Commie in the Balls, Resist Modern Attitudes, and Stay Gold.

Every Nintendo DS Game I've Ever Played

Next up Every Nintendo DS Game, I've Ever Played. Let's skip the intro and just get onto the list. And as always, This list is for Archive Purposes.

I got The DS Lite for X-Mas of 2006 and the DSi for X-Mas of 2009. Almost all of my DS games were X-Mas gifts.

Brain Age - Got Brain Age and a bunch of Games for X-Mas in 2006. A fun educational game. And after completing the daily session, you get to play Dr. Mario.

Brain Age 2 - The 2nd DS game I got for X-Mas of 2006. The sequel to Brain Age. Complete the daily session and you can play Soudoku.

Flash Focus - The 3rd DS Game I got for X-Mas of 2006. Another educational game. One that's more fun than Brain Age.

Clubhouse Games - The 4th DS Game I got for X-Mas of 2006. My Favorite DS Game. It has, Blackjack, Poker, Pool, Darts, Solitaire, Bowling and More. Super fun game.

Tetris DS The 5th and final DS game I got for X-Mas of 2006. I Love me some Tetris and I really like this games other puzzle modes. Tetris Rocks!

My Sims - I got this game, along with New Super Mario Bros, Sonic Rush, Digimon World, Final Fantasy III, and Pokemon Diamond, for X-Mas in 2007. My Sims isn't a game for everyone, but it has it's charm.

New Super Mario Bros. - Mario returns to his 2D roots in this fun adventure. Shame the Warp Zones are very difficult to get too.

Sonic Rush - This game is Tough!! Only Expert Sonic Players should play this.

Digimon World DS - I was still a fan of this franchise, so I wanted to try this game. A fun, but difficult JRPG.

Final Fantasy III DS - A remake of The TRUE FF3. Hard as All Hell, but still playable. Yeah, not my Favorite JRPG. I rarely play it and just keep it as a collectable.

Pokemon Diamond - A Better JRPG. Pokemon expands with over 100 New Monsters and a deeper story, with more focus on the Legends. Pokemon fun in 32-Bits.

Rock Revolution - A Rhythm game I bought at Gamestop in 2008. Not bad and fun to screw around with.

Wario Ware D.I.Y - My 2nd favorite DS game. I got this fun title for X-Mas of 2009. In Wario Ware D.I.Y. You are the game maker. You can make your own mini-games or improve existing ones.

And That does it for this list. Next up is one for my PS3. So until next time, Space Cowboys - Punch a Nazi in the Face, Kick a Commie in the Balls, Resist Modern Attitudes, and Stay Gold.

Every Nintendo Wii Game I've Ever Played

Next is the list of Wii Games that I've played. And as always, This list is for Archive Purposes.

I got the Wii on my B-Day of 2007 and was my very first experience with Motion Controls. Setting up the sensor bar was a real pain, as I couldn't easily find a great spot for it. The Mii's were fun to make and the games (the ones I have, at least) were a blast to play.

Wii Sports - The Wii's Pack-In Title and Killer App.  One of the console's greatest games.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Got this for my B-Day in 2007, along with my Wii. I Love Super Smash Bros. and Sonic's inclusion was a surprise to many...including myself.

Wii Play -  Got this for X-Mas in 2007. A spin-Off of Wii Sports.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games - Another game I got for my B-Day in 2007. The first collab between Sega and Nintendo. As much as I liked this game, I'm still hopeful for a proper Mario/Sonic crossover.

Ninja Reflex - Bought at Gamestop in 2008. I thought this game looked interesting, and it was. A psudo-ninja simulator.

Wii Sports Resort - Got this game and Mario Kart Wii for X-Mas of 2009. Wii Sports Resort is the Sequel to the ever popular, Wii Sports. It's bigger and just as fun as the original.

Mario Kart Wii - I was a big fan of Mario Kart and I initially got this game to try out the included Wii Wheel. Sadly, my Wii Wheel was thrown out an Overzealous relation (not naming names, though I really want to). The game still plays fine without it, though.

Punch-Out Wii - Got this for X-Mas in 2010. I'm a fan of this franchise, as well. Punch-Out marks a brief return after being absent from both the N64 And the Game Cube.

Wario Ware D.I.Y. Showcase - Downloaded via the Wii Ware in very late 2010, along with 4 other titles. I was a Big fan of Wario Ware D.I.Y. and the fact that I could've transferred my created games to the big screen grabbed me.

Mega Man 9 - Downloaded it via Wii Ware in 2010. Was excited for this game initially. But thanks to the bad Level Layout and Capcom feeling the Need to take away Mega Man's Slide and Charged Shot,my excitement turned to frustration. Overhyped is the word I give this game. On the bright side, the Weapons, Music, and Robot Master designs were top notch.

Mega Man 10 -  Downloaded it via the Wii Ware in 2010. Better level layout than 9 And you get to play as Bass. Shame Capcom felt the need to keep Mega Man lame by Not restoring his Slide or Charged Shot. Bass is also missing his Double Jump. Which sucks.

Kirby's Adventure - Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2010. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Legend of Zelda - A Link To The Past - Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2010. See my List of SNES Games to read my opinion of this game.

StarTropics - Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2011. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

River City Ransom -Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2011. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2011. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Final Fight - Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2011. See my List of SNES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Spider-Man - Edge of Time - Got this for X-Mas of 2011. I Really wanted Spider-Man 3, but got this game instead. A decent game overall, though.

Final Fantasy III aka Final Fantasy VI - Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2011. See my List of SNES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Chrono Trigger - Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2011. See my List of SNES Games to read my opinion of this game.

Metroid - Downloaded it via the Virtual Console in 2012. See my List of NES Games to read my opinion of this game.

And That does it for this list. Next up is one for my Nintendo DS. So until next time, Space Cowboys - Punch a Nazi in the Face, Kick a Commie in the Balls, Resist Modern Attitudes, and Stay Gold.

Every Sony Play Station 2 Game I've Ever Played.

The next list on this "Tour-de-Force" is for every Playstation 2 Game I've ever played. Why am I doing this? As always, for Archive Purposes.

I got my PS2 in 2004 for my Birthday. Believe it or not,I got this system as a hand-me-down,so it was used. I now use this system to play my PS1 games.

Kingdom Hearts - The 1st PS2 game. Got this gem (and 2 other games) for my Birthday in 2004. Kingdom Hearts is long-running series that was a collaboration between Disney and Square-Enix. A fun game and the 1st Square-Enix JRPG that ditches turn based battles.

Final Fantasy X - The 2nd PS2 game I got for my B-Day in 2004. Haven't gotten far in this game (mainly because i didn't have a strategy guide). I still had fun with this game though.

Dragon Ball Z Budokai- the 3rd and final PS2 game I would get for my B-Day in 2004. I loved DBZ and I loved Fighting games so the Budokai was a game that I Needed to get. This game covers the Saiyan, Namek, Frieza, Android, and Cell Sagas of the Anime.

Mega Man X7 - Bought at Gamestop in 2004 - What I thought was gonna be an awesome Mega Man game, turned out to be a very lame experience. Today, this game is just part of my collection. Has a great soundtrack though.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection - Bought this at Gamestop in mid-2004. Mega Man Anniversary Collection is a collection of not only the 1st 8 Mega Man games, but also the 2 Arcade Titles (which need to be unlocked). A really good collection.

Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 -  Got this game on X-Mas of 2004. It's a cool hybrid of both a Fighting Game and a Board Game. Covers the entirety of Dragon Ball Z. Very fun game, though battling the same opponent 5 - 8 times during the Story mode was Mega-Tedious.

Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 - Got this on my B-Day of 2005. This game contains both Fighting Game and RPG elements (complete with world map). Covers All of Z, The Shadow Dragon Saga of GT, the Movies, And has Kid Goku as an unlockable,

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection - My first Gamestop buy of 2005. As a fan of Street Fighter, I needed to play this. Plus, it contained 2 games that I hadn't played until that point - Hyper Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III - Third Strike.

Mega Man X8 - Another Gamestop purchase of 2005. The X-Series goes back to it's 2D roots. Too bad the level layout, for the most part, sucks beyond sucks. Not to mention the 2 Ride Chaser levels. Still has it's fun points, though. Axl was made cooler and the game had some cool concepts like a Double Team Attack and Mix and Match Armor upgrades for X.

Mega Man X Collection - My first Gamestop Purchase of 2006. I bought this game mainly for Battle and Chase (which was stupidly made an unlockable). Anyway, other than that game, this collection contains the 1st 6 X Series titles.

Street Fighter Alpha Anthology - Bought at Gamestop in 2006. My Final PS2 game and it was a great one. Street Fighter Alpha Anthology contains Every Street Fighter Alpha game that existed at that point. Plus, Super Gem Fighter as a bonus game.

And That does it for this list. Next up is one for my Wii. So until next time, Space Cowboys - Punch a Nazi in the Face, Kick a Commie in the Balls, Resist Modern Attitudes, and Stay Gold.

Every Nintendo Game Boy Advance Game I've Ever Played.

The next list on this "Tour-de-Force" is for every Game Boy Advance game I've ever played. Why am I doing this? As always, for Archive Purposes.

I got the Game Boy Advance for X-Mas in 2003. Then, on the following X-Mas I'd get the SP version. Today,I play my Game Boy games on the XP.

Mega Man Zero - In addition to getting my GBA, I also got a bunch of great games too. Yeah, X-Mas of 2003 was good! Anyway, Mega Man Zero was the first GBA game I ever got and ever played. Fitting for a Mega Man nut, such as myself. Anyway, MMZ is a really tough game and Not for novice players. Still, there's no denying that the game Is fun.

Mega Man Battle Network 2 - Another 2003 X-Mas gift. Mega Man Battle Network 2 is a JRPG with a unique combat system, where the character is free to move and attack during battle and the Menu System is only used to assemble your Special Weapons. Another tough game and the random battles are Super Annoying. However, the Music, Characters, Setting, and Battle System are Great. Would play the 1st game via emulation.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Another 2003 X-Mas gift. This was the first new Ninja Turtles game in a great while and would be my Last Ninja Turtles game until The Cowabunga Collection. Anyway, TMNT is based loosely on the 2k3 Show..though that's not a bad thing. TMNT is mainly a Beat'em-Up like it's predecessors, but with added vehicle stages. A challenging but fun game.

Disney's Treasure Planet - Yet another 2003 X-Mas gift. Based loosely on the Movie. Despite the good graphics and music, I just couldn't really get into this game.

Super Mario Advance 3 - Yoshi's Island - Got this game for X-Mas of 2003 too. Super Mario Advance 3 is a slightly remastered port of Yoshi's Island for the SNES. Baby Mario's crying is as annoying as ever on the GBA. I still had fun with this game though. The SMA series also contain a fun remake of Mario Bros. Cool. Would get SMA4 later.

Sonic Advance - Yet Another 2003 X-Mas gift. This game was a result of Nintendo and Sega. Sonic Advance is a game that returns Sonic to his 2D roots. Let's just say that I love this game. The music is great and the game is fun.

Hot Wheels X-Velocity [think that's what it's called] - The last GBA game I'd get in 2003 (fox x-mas). A decent little racing game based on the famous Hot Wheels property.

Dragon Ball Z - Collectible Card Game - I bought at Gamestop in 2004. Based on the Short lived Dragon Ball Z Card Game. I was a big fan of Dragon Ball Z,so I wanted to try this game out. Not a bad game.

Dragon Ball Z - Legacy of Goku - I bought at this at Gamestop in early-mid 2004. As a fan of the Anime, I needed to play this. It's similar to Zelda, but with Ki attacks instead of magic and punching instead of using a sword. Plus, you can fly. This game covers both the Saiyan and Frieza sagas of the Anime. I like this game too.

Pokemon Sapphire - Got this on X-Mas of 2004. I was big on Pokemon, so I had to play this. Like with Gold and Silver before it, I had fun playing this.

Super Mario Advance 4 - Super Mario 3 - Another X-Mas 2004 gift. This is a slightly remastered port of my Favorite Mario Game. Would play the rest of the series via emulation.

Pokemon Leaf Green - For X-Mas of 2005 I got 2 Pokemon Games, this one and Pokemon Ruby. Pokemon Leaf Green is a remake of Pokemon Blue and was paired with Fire Red, which was a remake of Red. I was a fan of Generation 1 and was eager to play the remake. I wasn't disappointed.

Pokemon Ruby - I already had Sapphire and I wanted to catch the Pokemon exclusive to Ruby. So I got this game, along with Leaf Green. Good stuff.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Games I played though Emulation:

Mario Kart Super Circuit - I still loved the Mario Kart series during this era, but missed out on Super Circuit. So, I played it though emulation and had fun.

Mega Man Battle Network - The 1st game in the Mega Man EXE/Battle Network series. I pretty much had the same experience as the 2nd game.

Super Mario Advance - A slightly remixed version of Super Mario Bros 2 (the Superior Super Mario 2!!!!). I love SMB2, so I loved this game too.

Super Mario Advance 2 - Super Mario World - A slightly remixed port of Super Mario World. In don't Need a reason for liking this game, It's F'n Super Mario World!!!

Pokemon Fire Red - I decided to play this game, just to catch the version exclusive Pokemon.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper - This is a well ported version of the Arcade hit. I really enjoyed playing this.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival - A GBA port of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, but with new stages and slightly altered storylines for each character. Good game, though not perfect.

Final Fight One - Final Fight on the GBA corrects most of the mistakes made with the SNES port. The Rolento and Industrial Stage is present. Guy has been restored as a playable character, and the game is 2 Players.

And That does it for this list. Next up is one for my PS2. So until next time, Space Cowboys - Punch a Nazi in the Face, Kick a Commie in the Balls, Resist Modern Attitudes, and Stay Gold.

Every Nintendo Game Cube Game I've Ever Played

I've did Lists for the Various Retro Systems I've Played. Now it's time to focus on The Game Cube, Playstation 2, Play Station 3, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, and the Switch. I Might do a single list for the Neo Geo Pocket/Color, Turbo Graphix 16,and the Wonderswan. Since I didn't play many games for those systems (which I played via emulation), I can put them all in a single list.

I Also might do one for the Atari 2600...keyword: MIGHT!

Anyway, This list will be focused on my Nintendo Game Cube. Note that This list, as well as any past and future lists, are for Archive Purposes.

I got the Game Cube for X-Mas of 2002. And I was surprised how small the discs were at first. I would learn a month later that those discs were Mini-DVD's And a month after that, I learned that the reason Nintendo used Mini-DVD's was to prevent pirating.

Sonic Adventure 2 - Battle - Got this game, and 2 others, with my Game Cube for X-Mas on 2002. I was always interested in playing the Sonic Adventure series, despite never owning a Sega Dreamcast. Well, thanks to Nintendo and Sega becoming friends (I'll talk more about how that came to be another time), I was able to play this on my Game Cube. SA2:B is a slight remaster of the original Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast. Needless to say, I had fun playing this game. Hard as hell, but I still love playing it.

Spider-Man - Another X-Mas 2002 gift. I always liked Spider-Man, so I had fun playing this game (as well as the unlockable mini-games). Plus, Bruce Campbell aka Ash Williams aka Autolycus, the King of Thieves, does some amusing commentary during gameplay. The Sequel would improve on this game by a crapton.

Mario Party 4 - The 3rd game I'd get for X-Mas of 2002. I wasn't too much of a Mario Party guy, but I wanted to try this game out. And I enjoyed it. So much so that I bough the entire Mario Party N64 Trilogy a year later.

Sonic Mega Collection - I'm a sucker for Compilation Games of my favorite franchises. And as a big fan of the Genesis Sonic games (3D Blast being the exception), I needed to get this. So in 2003, I bought this at Gamestop.  I really enjoyed this collection and the GC Controller was perfect for this game.

Mario Kart - Double Dash - I was a fan of the Mario Kart series back then and on X-Mas day of 2003, I got this game. Double Dash attempts something that was Never attempted again in Mario Kart - Team Racing. I had much fun mixing and matching duos for my teams. This was also the first Mario Kart to allow you to choose a Kart, which would become a staple going forward.

Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker - Another 2003 X-Mas gift. Fun game, until those annoying stealth levels. Not too much of a fan of the art style either..

Super Mario Sunshine - Another game I would get for X-Mas of 2003. Super Mario Sunshine deviates from the Classic Mario Formula ala Super Mario Bros. 2. It's a difficult, but fun experience.

Sonic Adventure DX - I bought this game at Gamestop in 2004. SADX is a slight remaster of the original Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. A pretty difficult game, though it's still a fun game.

Spider-Man 2 - Got this and a few other games for X-Mas of 2004. This is My Favorite Game Cube Game. The open world game play and Bruce Campbell's commentary made this game the Best Spider-Man game for Years, only to be overtaken by Spider-Man for the PS4.

Pokemon Colosseum - Another game I'd get in 2004 for X-Mas. The main reason I got this game was because I was expecting it to be just like Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2. However, that's wasn't the case and I ended up getting an interesting RPG instead. Good game, but needed more polish.

Mega Man Network Transmission - Another game I got on X-Mas in 2004. Combining elements from both the EXE/Battle Network games and the Classic games should've been a fun experience. Unfortunately, Capcom botched things and the game ended up being more difficult than it needed to be.

Sonic Heroes - Yet another game I got for X-Mas of 2004. I liked the tag team mechanic and the soundtrack. Like with Adventure DX and Adventure 2 Battle, Heroes is a difficult, but fun game.

Game Boy Player - A Game Cube Add-On I got in 2004 for X-Mas. I Love My Game Boy Advance games and getting a chance to play them on the TV was awesome. This thing can also play both Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. I love this thing.

Super Smash Bros. Melee - Bought this used at Gamestop in 2005. I was a fan of the original, so I needed to get this. Melee soon became my 2nd favorite Game Cube game. I Love Super Smash Bros.

Sonic Gems Collection - I bought this at Gamestop in 2005. The main reason why I bought this collection was to play Sonic CD again. However, I found Sonic R and Sonic Fighters to be fun experiences.

Legend of Zelda - Collectors Edition -  A game I bought at Gamestop in 2006 and would be my Final Game Cube game. I bought this mainly to play Majora's Mask, but I also enjoyed re-playing Zelda's 1 and 2.

And That does it for this list. Next up is one for my Game Boy Advance. So until next time, Space Cowboys - Punch a Nazi in the Face, Kick a Commie in the Balls, Resist Modern Attitudes, and Stay Gold.

A Mr. Baseball Between Two Legendary Voice Actors

 Hey Toonsters,

Sorry I haven't been blogging for a while. I was busy with other stuff, including one hobby I haven't done in a while and that was writing, mostly fanfiction. However, I wish I could've done it under better circumstances, especially ending January on a somber note with the passing of three famous people, starting with one voice actor I did mention a long time ago in my Mummies Alive! review.

On January 6, 2025, Canadian voice actor Dale Wilson died from complications from both prostate cancer and Parkinson's Disease. He was 82 years old. Wilson, as I mentioned in my Mummies Alive! review was the voice of Ja-Kal, but he also voiced other characters that I remember correction, such as Capt. Grid-Iron, Mutt, Overkill and Skydive in the DIC version of G.I. Joe, Big Boss Graves from The Adventures of T-Rex, Sir Lewis Leon Paradim from The Bots Master and he was the original voice of Cell from the Ocean dub of Dragon Ball Z.

Next from the world of voice acting to the world of sports.

On January 16, 2025, Former baseball player turned sports announcer and actor Bob Uecker died, 10 days shy of his birthday. He was 90 years old. Known the world over as "Mr. Baseball", Uecker started his career as his nickname applies, a baseball player, who was the catcher for teams like the Milwaukee (later Atlanta) Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, and Philadelphia Phillies. He later had a career as a broadcast announcer, mostly for the Milwaukee Brewers up until 2024. He was also an actor, best known for not only playing sportswriter George Owens in the hit ABC sitcom, Mr. Belvedere, but also sports announcer Harry Doyle from the Major League movie series.  We will miss his sense of humor and funny wit, whether in sports, or in movies and TV.

And now, back the world of voice acting, and announcing another passing of another voice actor. But not just any voice actor, this man defined a generation and help fans like myself become great people in the long haul.

On December 20th, 2024, veteran voice actor John Erwin has died. He was 88 years old. Mostly a private person and never attended a convention (and I don't blame him and we can all respect his privacy), Erwin was best known for voice such characters as Morris the Cat from 9Lives cat food commercials, Reggie Mantle from the Filmation Archie cartoons, Ronald Radford III from The Thing cartoon segments in Fred and Barney meets The Thing, and our most favorite of them all, being the voice of the most powerful man in the universe, He-Man from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. As He-Man (and his alter-ego Prince Adam), he gave us the very things we got through all the life lessons we watched, strength, courage, wisdom, safety, honesty, willpower among other things. He-Man, along with Duke, Lion-O and especially Optimus Prime, have define a generation and through their moral compass, we strife to be better for the long haul. He died of natural causes, but his death was announced January 31, 2025 through Facebook by Melendy Britt, the voice of  He-Man's twin sister, She-Ra. Thanks for the memories, good sir. As long as all the life lessons are within us, you will never truly be gone. May King Grayskull watch over you always. Be at peace, Son of Randor.

Thank you for all the memories, my dear friends. Thank you for my making my childhood so awesome.

CTV-i

I've talked a bit about this before. But now I think it's time to introduce everyone to something Special (to me, at least) from my Teen-Hood. Something that is (Was) near and dear to me, something Nostalgic. Something that was completely made obsolete by the Internet.

Today, I'm talking about Staten Island Community Television's CTV-i.

Now, Before I talk about the service itself. Here is a brief history.

CTV-1 (short for Community Television Interactive) was created as a spin-off channel in the Early 90's as an Interactive Information Service for those with Touchtone Phones. Staten Islanders would tune in to Channel 56 on Staten Island Cable (later known as Time Warner Cable), dial-up the number (727-0235) , and enjoy everything CTV-1 had to offer.

From The Early 90's to the Early 2000's CTV-i was The place for At-Home Information and Fun for Staten Islanders.

So,what happened to it? If CTV-i so popular, why isn't it still around? Simple - The Internet! Once that grew, usage of CTV-i shrank. And by Late 2000,the Service was rarely used, causing CTV to shut it down a year later in 2001.

CTV-i was something that me and my buddies used to watch and use a lot during the 90's. It is missed.

In 1996, my best buddy,P. K. (real name withheld due to him hating getting name dropped in public), introduced me to CTV-i , which He had been using since 1995. So when he told me about it, I decided to check it out and I was hooked. When I wasn't using the service (mainly to play the interactive games and trivia), I was watching it to see what the other users did.

The service used an older computer Operating System (i think it was Amiga) for it's presentation, with Synthwave/Vaporwave playing in the background. Later this was replaced with music from a popular Radio Station (which CTV did have).

When logged in to the service, the user was greeted with a male digitized voice welcoming you to the service.

It would either say - "Welcome to CTV-i,The Interactive Information Service, from Staten Island Community Television!" or "Welcome to CTV-i, The Interactive Information Service. Select an Option from The Express Entry Menu!"

The user would then use their Touchtone Phone as some kind of remote control, with the options repped by a number on the phones keypad.

To access an option of the Service, all the User had to do was press the corresponding number on the Phone. (Ie. if an option waz repped by the number 7, all the User had to do is press 7.)

Some of the Services CTV-1 included were - Information about NYC Transit, Employment Listings, General Info About Community Civic and Cultural Organizations, as well as Fun Stuff like Interactive Stories,Trivia, and Quizzes.

Sometime in '98/'99 CTV-i would introduce a "Kids" section, where the little ones could play kiddie games such as fun with Shapes, Numbers, and Colors.

Created as a "Mascot" for this section was a character called Sock Boy. Later, Sock Boy would get a sidekick, a stick figure with a circle head, known as Stick Guy.

There was also various vector graphic bumpers. One of which depicted a close-up shot of a smiling woman wearing shades that had lenses that spun in multiple colors. Next to her was a message telling you that You Were Watching CTV-i. Fun stuff.

Anyway, the service was on a time limit, each session would last around 2 minutes. Once those 2 minutes were up, the session would end for that caller. A caller also end their session by either hanging up the phone, completing an Interactive Story, or getting a "Game Over" on an Interactive Story.

I think there was another way to end the session, but I forgot what it was.

Once the session was over, a female digitized voice would say - "We appreciate You using CTV-i. Thank You for calling and please call again!"

Now, let's talk more about what's available for the service. Besides the stuff mentioned above there was also News Briefings (including weather, traffic, and construction), Various Bulletin Boards (including animal adoption and lost and found, special events, and personal engagements), Sports Scores (includes racing, boxing, and wrestling results), The CTV Show Schedule (ch.24,ch.34,and ch.35), Movie Times, and Directories.

Now I'll talk about my favorite part of the service, and the part me and my buddy P. K.would use the most - The Interactive Stories.

CTV-i had 3 Interactive Stories during it's run - The Adventures of You,Adventures of You 2, and Adventures of You 3.

In "The Adventures of You", You take the role of a Staten Islander who finds a Gem and it makes you shrink. You eventually get abducted by, and later befriend, a bird. It ends with You (still shrunk) and the Bird foiling a Bank Robbery.  You then become a Hero known as The Bird Master.

In "Adventures of You 2", You come across a mysterious forked road at night - one path leads to a Creepy Old House, the other leads to the Unknown. The Unknown is a trap, so the only way forward is though The Haunted House. If you Do decide to stay in the Unknown, You'll be attacked by Evil Monsters (with evil eyes)

Anyway, before entering the House the User Must get by an Evil Witch/Vampire. After defeating her, the User needs to reach the Exit, but not before getting by all sorts of Evil Beings and Traps. One such entity is the Evil Pharaoh.

Once you finally exit the House, it's day time and the skies are clear. After that the game ends.

"Adventures of You 3" has You adventuring in Space. There were nasty Aliens involved and you could get lost in Space. But other than that, I don't remember this one much.

CTV-i was one of the many different things that shaped my Youth. And I'm glad to have watched it (and used it) during it's prime.

One of my fondest CTV-i memories is from '96/'97, where I would watch it in the backroom of my house, while sucking on Jolly Ranchers (remember those).

And that's gonna do it for this Personal Memory Trip. Hope you learned a little something about Staten Island's Community Television.

So Space Cowboys, Until Next Time - Punch a Nazi in The Face,Kick a Commie in The Balls, Resist Modern Attitudes, and Stay Gold.

Top 10s Favorite Retro Video Games.

Time for another list!!!! This one is going to be of My Top Retro Video Games.

Anyway, here are a few notes. 1 - This List is for Archive Purposes. 2 - The List Will be in No Particular Order.  3 - This is My Own Personal list, so please keep that in mind.

4 - This list will be broken into multiple Top 10s, with each section repping a System that I've either Owned, Still Own, or Played in some form. Same goes for the Listed Games.

5 - I Won't be listing Games or Systems that I've Never Owned or Played. So keep that in mind.

6 - I'm only gonna list games from the Atari 2600 Era to the PS1/N64 Era. I'll save the Other Systems that I Own for another list.

7 - Because there isn't enough Games I enjoy or played for the Master System, Game Gear, Sega CD, and 32X, I will be pairing them off for their lists. You'll see what I mean soon.

8 - I've played the Neo Geo Pocket, The Neo Geo Pocket Color, The Turbo Grafix-16, and The Bandai Wonderswan via Emulation. I never played enough games to garner a Top 10. Pokemon Facts Part 2 - Generation 2

Pokemon Generation 2 - Nihon (aka The Spaceworld '97 Build)

Pokermon Gold and Silver began life as 'Pokemon 2' and was scheduled to release Late-1997/Early-1998. However, due to the 'Pokemon Shock' incident (i'll go into that another time), the Anime was put on hold for a few months, and by extension, the Games.

Thanks to the delay, Game Freak had more time to improve the Games.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Initially, Generation 2 was to have 351 Pokemon, the Original 151 and 200 New ones. Most of the New Pokemon were cut down to just 101 much later in development, likely due to the lack of cart space.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was gonna be a Sheep Pokemon based on Dolly the Sheep (look her up), but this was deemed too controversial, so the Mareep Line was created in it's place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During This stage in development The Region was called 'Nihon' and was based on the Entirety of Japan....complete with a "Downsized" Kanto.

Other areas include a High Tech City, a Desert Town,a couple of Japanese-Style Cities, a Snowy Island, a Wintery City, and More. There was also an Aquarium in one of these cities. And some caves were gonna have mine carts.

Oh, and New Bark Town was called Silent Hills and had a blocked off path that led to Victory Road.

I'll talk more in detail about these Towns another time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Story was a bit different during this era of development. 1 Year after the events of Red/Green/Blue, Prof. Oak moved to the Player's home town and settled in as the Professor (so no Prof. Elm) Assisting Oak was Green/Blue, who was now more humble.

Oak secretly moved to the Player's Home Town to study the New Pokemon.

And Silver, the Rival, was the Player's hot-blooded competitive friend with ZERO relation or connection to Giovanni. This is a sharp contrast to Final!Silver.

Team Rocket was more involved in the Story and even had an Imposter Prof. Oak. Plus, Giovanni was gonna lead them once again.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Instead of the Bike, the Player was gonna get a Skateboard instead.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gym Leaders Falkner, Jasmine (who was a ghost-type gym leader at this stage), Bugsy (who was Gym Leader #3) and Morty looked different (and likely specialized in another type, sinse Jasmine was the Ghost-Type specialist here).

Whitney was the 2nd Gym Leader,Pryce didn't exist yet, in his place was a Dark-Type Gym Leader named, Okera, who had no unique Sprite yet.

Red was a Gym Leader, instead of a Super Boss. And Clair was called Gama and, like with Okera, had no unique Sprite yet.

As for the Elite 4, It consisted of Bruno, Misty, and Lorelei,and.... Giovanni?!!!  Yes, Giovanni. Why and How was he a member of the Elite 4 is a mystery, as in this build, he was Still part of Team Rocket as their Leader.

Lorelei, who was absent in the final games, was the Leader of the Elite 4 and Lance was the Champion (like he is in the final games)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kurt the Pokeball Maker was once intended to be battled. Plus, Agatha was set to return, but was scrapped before the final build.

Imakuni (based on Tomoaki Imakuni) , was intended to host a radio show at the Radio Tower.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There were many Pokemon in this build that never made it to the final game, some had different designs, while others from the final game were absent.

Now, I won't list them all, but here are the notable ones.

Chikorita evolved into a disturbing Plant Monster instead of Bayleef.  The Cyndaquil and Totodile Lines were replaced by a family of Fire Bears and Plesiosaurs respectively.

Tangela not only had a Pre-Evolution but also an Evolution. Girafarig had a Pre-Evolution that resembled Twin Ghosts. Speaking of, Girafarig was gonna have another Giraffe Head, this one looking sinister. This head was modified into the Chain-Chomp head it has in the final.

Kotora and Raitora from the Gen 1 Beta was set to return, but was scrapped once again. There were More Ghost-Types in the game. One was a Cursed Straw Doll with a Nail stuck in it. There was also a Panda that was based on a Jiangshi, a Chinese Hopping Vampire, which often acts Zombie-like.

Speaking of Disturbing, Hitmontop's design at this stage in development would've been an unnerving sight if encountered. The Shell on Slowbro's tail was once it's own Pokemon. It's relation to Shellder would've been explained in full, had it not been cut.

Sneasel had a completely different design, as did Politoad and Noctowl. There were 2 Pokemon who were covered in furs, with their True forms being unknown. They were both Ice-Types.

Remoraid and Octillary resembled a Revolver and a Tank respectively. Ladiba had a different Evolution.

Their were also a buncha scrapped Baby Pokemon too, other than Tengala's. Baby Forms of Ponyta, Growlith, Vulpix, Doduo, Meowth, Mr. Mime, Grimer, and Goldeen were all cut. Though Mr. Mime's Pre-Evo Was revived for Generation 4.

The Baby Pokemon that Did make it in had different designs. Those Mon were Pichu, Smoochum, Elekid (known here as elebaby), and Magby.

Farfetch'd, Pinser, were intended to get Evolutions. Likitung would get an Evo in Gen 4, Pinser would get a Mega-Evo in Gen 6, and Farfetch'd (at least a regional variant) would get an Evo in Gen 8.

There was also 2 scrapped nocturnal Cat Pokemon, with a Bell gimmick, A Shark with an Anchor attached to it, and a Blowfish with a Lightning Bolt on it's head.

Umbreon was originally a Poison-Type (a remenent of this is seen in it's pokedex entry) . The Hoppip Line was more cat-like. Ditto had a Steel-Type Evolution.

And finally, The 3 Legendary Beasts were Elemental Dogs.

I'll go more into detail about these Monsters at another date.

=======================================================

Pokemon Generation 2 - Kansai

From Late 1998 - Early 1999, Game Freak scrapped the concept of the region being based on the entirety of Japan and just decided to based it on just one region - The Kansai Region.  The Graphics were all overhauled and match the final.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Compared to the final, The Kansai Region is pretty different from Johto. Cherry Grove City was a bit bigger. Violet City's lay out was different with Sprout Tower being on the Bottom Left of the City. Azalia Town was smaller. Goldenrod City had a port.

Ecruteck City's Towers were in different places. Olivine City was a bit different and had more houses. Mahogany Town lacked a Gym at this point. The Lake of Rage had a heavily forested area that housed a Pagoda.

Blackthorn City had a hilly forest that lead to a Pagoda. This Pagoda was the Original Dragon's Den.

There was an Unused Town with a port and a Gym. And Cianwood City didn't exist yet.

Route 26 had a Haunted House. And The path to Mt. Silver was to be a semi-haunted forest maze.

Kanto was more complete. The Safari Zone was being worked on at that point in time. The Cinnabar Lab and Mansion were accessible. In fact Cinnabar Island was Still standing. Veridian Forist was gonna be compact..but Still an actual "dungeon"

I'll go more into these towns and routes another time.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Additional Pokemon were added to these Builds. Notable Mon are the scrapped Min-Stage Evo of Natu and Xatu, A Ninja Squirrel, a Monster Skeleton, and a Wind Dog, which may or may Not have been Silver's Original Box Art Legendary (Lugia was created very very late in this development era).

Also, late in this development era, the Starter Pokemon line-up was finalized, as Bayleef, Totodile, Croconaw, Feraligater, Cyndaquill, Quilava, and Typhlosion were added in. Heracross replaced the Pinsir Evolution late in development.

Celebi was created later in development, had a different look and was a pure Grass-Type, instead of a Grass/Psychic-Type.

And finally, the Legendary Dogs become Legendary Beasts.

I'll be talking more about these Mon at a later date and time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Gym Leaders and Elite 4 are the same as the final, except Bugsy and Whitney are still swapped. Dark Gym Leader Okera was replaced with Ice Gym Leader Pryce, though he had no unique sprite yet. Clair was a child.

Morty was made the Ghost-Type Master;?, while Jasmine was given the Steel-Type specialty.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lugia was Not created by Game Freak, nor Nintendo, but by the Pokemon Anime's head writer and chief creative, Takeshi Shudo, to be an Anime-exclusive Pokemon. But, it was eventually implemented into the games late in development.

Lugia was known as Pokemon X (not to be confused with the Gen 6 game) before it's name was officially chosen.

I'll talk more about Lugia's origins at a later time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Shuckle, Piloswine, and Yanma were gonna get Evolutions. Piloswine and Yanma would eventually get Evolutions in Generation 4.

Girafarig got a new Pre-Evo, which resembled the Pokemon more.. The Twin Ghosts were soon re-worked into Wobbafet.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With some help from Satoru Iwata, Game Freak was able to create a compression code that allowed Kanto to be fully added to the game.

==========================================================

Pokemon Generation 2 - Johto (aka The Final Build)

Starting with Gen 2 in the U.S.,Jynx's skin color was changed from black to purple. This was to end the controversy surrounding the Pokemon at the time (where jynx was compared to blackface).

This change was applied to the Japanese Games starting in Gen 3.

---------------------------------------------------------

The Final Game has some Kansai Town/City leftovers. The only main differences are that Mahogany Town now has a Gym and the Lake of Rage now has both a Town with a Gym. Also, Cianwood City was added very late in development.

Also, some of the Kanto areas had to be scrapped due to cart limitations. One such area was The Safari Zone, which was the last Kanto Area to be cut. And the Destroyed Cinnabar Island replaced the Original one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Pharmacy was originally in Ecruteck City, instead of Cianwood City.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was a scrapped side-quest, where the Player would have to rescue a child trapped in the Burnt Tower.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pokemon Crystal was the first Pokemon Game that let the Player play as a Female Protagonist

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the Japanese version, the Pokémon Center in Goldenrod City is replaced with the "Pokémon Communication Center", or PokéCom Center/PCC for short. This new area is meant to showcase the added gameplay features linked to the Mobile System GB. However, due to the accessory not being released overseas, the PCC was reverted back to a standard Pokémon Center, and so was the building's exterior.

One item the Player could get would've been a GS Ball, which when brought to the Shrine in the Iilex Forest, would allow the Player to capture Celebi.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Battle Tower was added West of Olivine City for Crystal.

And That is all the Gen 2 Facts I know of. I'll talk more about the Beta Content of both the Gen 2 And Gen 1 Games in the future. I also have some fun fan theories too.

Well, that's it for now. Stay Gold and Continue Resisting Modern Attitudes.

Pokemon Facts Part 1 - Generation 1

Pokemon has been a Golden Goose for Nintendo for a long long time. Created by Game Freak and co-developed by Creatures Inc, Pokemon started as an ambitious project, that became a Global Phenomenon in the 90's and early-2000's.

I myself am a fan of this franchise. So today, I'll be listing off a bunch of Facts about the franchise.

Note - This will NOT be a List of Every fact, just the ones that I know. Plus, this list will Only focus on the Games, not the various Animes or Mangas.

The Beginnings -  Game Freak's Ambition.

Development of Pokemon began as far back as Mid-Late 1990! Just 1 year After the Game Boy's release and on the Same Year as the release of the Super Famicom. Only, it wasn't called Pokemon, it was called Capsule Monsters.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To round up enough Yen for their project, Game Freak worked several odd-jobs for Nintendo, they also did a few for Sega too, one of which was Pulseman for the Sega Genesis. When they finally gained enough money in 1994, they were able to go full speed ahead with their Capsule Monster project.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hiroshi Yamouchi, Nintendo of Japan's President at the time, had little faith in Game Freak's concept, considering it as game that wouldn't catch on. Shigiru Miyamoto (Mr. Nintendo), however, was interested and agreed to help Tajiri and Co. any way that he could. In time, Yamouchi would reconsider his earlier opinion on Pokemon and embrace it as the Cash Cow that it was.

===================================

Generation 0 - Capsule Monsters/Capumon

Most of the Monsters were loosely based on Kaiju. And the concept for Capumon/Pokemon came from Ultraman's Capsule Kaiju. They also came from Gashapon Machines, which are a part of Japanese Pop Culture.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In-game trading came about when Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori were chatting about Dragon Quest and Tajiri was upset that Sugimori had 2 rare items (the mad caps), while he managed to get none. So from that they came up with the Link-to-Link trading.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It wasn't just Pokemon that would've been traded, but Items too. However, that was dropped early on.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, Trading would've cost in-game currency, kinda like a paid service. Another idea tossed around was that instead of a trade, Players can Buy Monsters from other Players, and that each Monster had their own price value assigned to them. The rarer the monster, the more expensive they would be. These concepts were dropped, as well.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Players would've also been able to trade multiple Pokemon at once.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Instead of PokeDollars, the in-game currency would've been Gold, which the player would win via Trainer Battles or by finding them in Dungeons..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There originally gonna be 30+ monsters due to the lack cart space, but Shigiru Miyamoto stepped in and gave Game Freak larger size carts to work with  So the 30+ Monsters became 200,which was cut down to 190.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trainers had to catch their first Pokemon on their own by taming them via a whip. This was scrapped very late during this stage of development.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was planned for a Charisma stat for the player, the higher the stat, the easier it would be to tame and catch the Monster. This idea was scrapped late during the "Capsule Monster" Era.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There were initially 4 types of Monsters -

Normal Ones, which were the run-of-the-mill monsters that Players could always catch.

Mirage Monsters, which were Ultra Rare Monsters that appear randomly in Dungeons, which may take Days to find and were extremely difficult to catch.

Power Kings, which were very rare, very powerful, and very tough to catch

Then there were the Uncatchable Monsters, which included Boss Monsters and Monsters from Other Trainers. This idea was scrapped during the final days of this Era.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Capsule Monster World was pretty different from the Kanto we know. 1. It had a slightly different shape. 2. It had areas not seen in the final game, such as a Graveyard, a Lake, a Desert, and even a Military Base. There was also a TV Tower, which was based on Tokyo Tower. These locals would later be used in future games.

This version of the Map also had many, many dungeons.

A 2nd version of this Map would be designed near the end of this era . This one resembling the final Kanto Map, but with an extra Island, which I'll talk about later.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many of the Monsters had slightly different designs. ex. Blastoise had no cannons in the 1st Draft Concept Art, but was given them in the 2nd draft. Archanine was a Kirin and not a Dog. Gyarados looked like a Giant Worm with sharp teeth.

Rhydon lacked his iconic Drill Horn. And Scyther was a Dragon with Insect-like features, instead of an Insect with Dragon-like features.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There were also a few Monsters from the drafts that were cut, such as the Godzilla-esque Gaoon and the MechaGodzilla-like Omega. More on the scrapped Mon later.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some Monsters were designed with specific tasks in mind. Mon such as Rhyhorn, Lapras, Archanine, and Spearow (who was bigger) were meant to be used for transportation, in addition to battling.

While Mon like Clefairy and the Nidoran were also meant to be pets.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In addition to catching Monsters, Players had the opportunity to Buy them at Shops. Kinda like a Pet Shop. These were scrapped in the final game, but the Game Corner Prize Shop and the Magikarp Salesmen are remnants of this idea.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In addition to a Male Trainer, there was also a Female Trainer, as well. No clue if she was to be playable or just a Concept Character. A Female trainer,Leaf, would be playable in the Gen 1 Remakes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A piece of Concept art shows Monsters hatching from Eggs  This wouldn't be a thing until Generation 2

----------------------------------------------------

Another Concept that was thrown out was a Tower Dungeon called "The Tomb of the Mythical Beasts". This idea was repurposed into the Lavender Town Pokemon Tower.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Trainers carried Whips, including the Player. This was scrapped for being too cruel, though some trainers still carry whips in the final game, like Sabrina.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of Whips, instead of Gym Badges, the player would earn Dojo Belts. These belts would signify a Trainer's Rank. And each belt would double as a whip. The Ranking System was scrapped later down the line.

Oh, and Pokemon Gyms were known as Dojos during this point in development.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During this era of development, there were no Types, No Evolutions, and No Starter Pokemon.  Or no Pikachu, for that matter. Those would be added in later.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

200 Monsters were planned, before Game Freak decided to cut 10 near the beginning of the next development era. But after realizing that their deadline was coming up and they were running out of cart space, they were forced to cut the Monsters down to 150.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There would've been special battles where the Trainer fought alongside their Pokemon. This was scrapped early in the era.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The HP bar was implemented at the very end of this development era. Instead, damage was indicated by simple text. After finding it too boring, Game Freak implemented an HP bar.

=====================================================

Generation 1 - Alpha Kanto.

Game Freak had issues trademarking the name "Capsule Monsters", so they shortened it to "Capumon". But, not too long after renamed the games to "Pocket Monsters" instead.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Initially, Game Freak had no intention on adding Link-to-Link Battles, but Nintendo wanted it, so it was implemented late in development.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battles and Dungeon crawling was gonna be Mega Annoying, with not only, Monsters attacking the Player every 3 steps, but also Trainers challenging you to battle every time they saw you...even If you've beaten them.

Thankfully this line of thinking was scrapped during development.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Initially, there were gonna be 65,000+ versions of a single Pokemon game, with each game having randomized dungeons, unique to that game.. This was beyond complicated, so Shigiru Miyamoto advised them to scrap the idea and go with 2 different Versions, each with their own exclusive Pokemon. Satoshi Tajiri liked the idea and went with it.

Though, Tajiri wanted the game to be 7 Colors - Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink, Violet, and Indigo. However, after realizing that development resources and manufacturing redundancy would be a factor, he decided to limit the versions to just 2 colors.

Every color, with the exception of Pink and Indigo, were eventually used. Though a Pokemon Pink WAS considered as a counterpart to Yellow.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Red and Blue were gonna be the colors initially, but after deciding that Venusaur looked better than Blastoise, so a Green version was paired with Red. Though, a Blue Version was made later.

Red and Blue would eventually be paired up for the West.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pikachu started out as a "Yuki Usagi" (a daifuku baked in the shape of a rabbit), but with electric abilities. Atsuko Nishida came up with the design and the name. Unsatisfied, Game Freak told Nishida to rework the design. So she did, into a Squirrel. Not too long after Pikachu was tweaked into the design we all know and love.

Pikachu's black-tipped ears were already part of the original Daifuku design.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Early in this Development Era, a couple of Popularity Polls were held at Game Freak. There were over 200 Monster designs and the rejected ones were cut. One such Monster was a Mecha-Gojira-esque Dino known as Omega.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As mentioned earlier the Games originally had 190 Pokemon, but due to time, budget, and cart space limitations, 39 Pokemon had to be cut. These Pokemon include - Gyaoon, a Dinosaur Pokemon inspired by Godzilla and later redesigned into Tyranitar for Gen 2.

A Monsterous Cactus,A Wide-Eyed Crocodile,a Pokemon that was a cross between a Moose and a Caribou. As well as a basic Balloon Pokemon.

There was Also a Cut Evolution for Raichu called Gorochu, whom had fangs and a Powerful Horn.  Wartortle had a different Evolution, before Blastoise was eventually made it's final form. Blastoise was part of a 2-Stage Turtle Pokemon family that never was.

The Squirtle Line and the Scrapped Turtle Line were combined, due to Game Freak feeling that having 2 similar Turtle Families would be redundant. So the Blastoise Pre-Evolution and the Original Wartortle Evolution were scrapped.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I'll chat more about Cut Pokemon at a later time.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trainers, called Dealers in this stage of development, were gonna Take The Players Pokemon if they won against them. But the Game Freak staff thought it would be too cruel to lose a beloved Pokemon that you've trained, so they scrapped the idea.

This was similar to an old Japanese Card Game, a name which I forgot, but was implemented as part of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, which came out a Year after the release of Red and Green.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inns were part of the plan and they would've acted like the Inns in a typical RPG. There was also Pokemon Shops, in addition to the regular Item Shops.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At One Point the player was allowed to Rename entire species of Pokemon. But, Game Freak thought that this would become confusing,so they scrapped it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was a City below Celadon City on the Alpha Map that was scrapped. It was the only place where That Infamous Truck could be found, before it was moved to the docks outside of Vermilion City

Speaking of, Celadon City was a Port City, while Vermilion had the Department Store. And Route 19 had a Beach House. Also, Prof. Oak's lab (which was a school at that point) was in Viridian City.

Victory Road was just a normal outside path and the Indigo Plateau was a Cave. It wasn't even called Victory Road yet.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Viridian Gym was gonna be the 1st Gym (then Dojo) and it was gonna have a a 13-year-old Boy (Yuuchiro) as the Gym leader, leaving Brock as the 2nd. Blane was a Military Man, who was changed into a Scientist to disconnect him with Lt. Surge.

Erika was a Ghost-Type Leader and Sabrina was the Final Leader (makes sense, since Psychic-Types were the most powerful type in Gen 1) Also, Giovanni wasn't a Gym-Leader yet.

All of this was carried over to the Early-Mid Beta Stage of development.

=======================================================

Pokemon Generation 1 - Beta Kanto.

Sometime during this stage of development the 190 Pokemon were cut to just 150 (151 later). Those 39 Pokemon became Missingno (more on that later).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Belts became Badges Very Early in this Stage of development. And Dojos became Gyms. And Dealers were re-titled as Trainers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Seafoam Islands never existed in the early Beta, Instead, there was a Lighthouse. This Lighthouse was only around during the Early-Mid Beta Stage of develpoment, before being replaced by the Seafoam Islands.

The Sevii islands were gonna be implemented, but were scrapped due to limited cart space. These Islands would later be added to the Gen 1 Remakes, Fire Red and Leaf Green.

Victory Road was implemented during the Mid-Beta Stage of development.

Oh, and the Pokemon Tower was bigger.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Link Cable Battles were a Very, Very Late addition to the Games. This feature was added at Nintendo's request.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Instead of Surfing on a Pokemon, the Player was gonna be given a Surfboard, instead.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Now we talk about The Silph Challenge and the Indigo Plateau. The Silph Challenge was an optional "Quest" the player can do, likely in the Post-Game.

There, the Player would battle one of each Trainer Type, as well as have a rematch with each Gym Leader. Green/Blue,the Rival, would've also been fought as the final trainer. After all of that, the Player would get the chance to battle and catch Mewtwo on the final floor.

Note that at THIS Point in development, Mewtwo was just a Powerful Legendary and nothing more. It's Backstory wouldn't be developed until much later.

The Silph Challenge was scrapped Late development and Mewtwo was moved to the Cerulean Cave aka The Unknown Dungeon.

The Indigo Plateau was an actual Dungeon Tower, with each floor representing previous Dungeons like Mt. Moon and the St. Anne.

Once the player has completed all of that, they would fight the Elite 4 and Champion (Green/Blue) in a Gauntlet.      .

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The original Bird placement was as follows - Articuno was located in a scrapped area within the Seafoam Islands, before it was moved to another part of the Dungeon.

Moltres had his own Dungeon located somewhere. That area was scrapped and Moltres was moved to Victory Road.

And Zapdos was originally the Legendary Pokemon located in Cerulean Cave/The Unknown Dungeon It was moved to the Power Plant late in development. In fact, the Unknown Dungeon Wasn't a post game area. As the player was able to go there after winning all 8 badges.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Bird Type was a scrapped type that represented the Bird Pokemon. However, Game Freak had the Foresight that not Every Flying Pokemon would be Birds, so they replaced it to the Flying-Type.

Funnily enough, the Bird Type remained in the Final builds of the Game, but remained unused...for Actual Pokemon,at least!!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Late in this stage of development, Game Freak was debating whether to add Multiple Save Files or Nicknaming The Pokemon. They were running out of Cart Space, so they had to choose one. They chose the option of Nicknaming the Player's Pokemon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At This stage, Giovanni was an Unofficial Gym Leader, having one withing Rocket HQ. He was also a Flying Type Master. What he'd give you for beating him is unknown.

Game Freak liked the idea of the Big Bad being a Gym Leader so much, they decided to make Giovanni an Official Gym Leader, as sort of a plot twist. So, They decided to scrap Yuuchiro (the original viridian gym leader) and replace him with Giovanni. And to prevent the twist from being pointless, Game Freak made the Viridian Gym the Last one.

One thing to note is that despite the move, Giovanni was Still a Flying Type Master. This is why the Green Badge/Earth Badge resembles a feather. He was changed to a Ground Type Specialist very late in this stage of development.

And instead of changing the badge, Game Freak just recolored it to Green.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Silph Co. President was meant to be battled in the Safari Zone. His roster is unknown, but he has the Sprite that Blaine would eventually be given. As for Blaine? Well, he was originally a Military Man.

Blaine was changed for 2 reasons - 1, To separate him from Lt. Surge. and 2, To give him a closer connection to Cinnabar Labs, as the Silph President looked like a Scientist.

The Silph President battle being cut and the changes made to to Blaine were made late into this stage of development.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scrapped mid-stage during this point in development was Jack, the Robot Trainer. Yes. A Robotic Pokemon Trainer. He was likely a product of Silph Co. and had Porygon as his signature Pokemon.

Jack was scrapped for unknown reasons.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to lack of Ghost-Types,Erika, who was originally a Ghost Pokemon Mistress, was made into a Grass-Type Leader instead.

Thanks to Giovanni and the Plot Twist of him being the Viridian Gym Leader, Sabrina went from the 8th gym leader to the 6th.

Also, Agatha of The Elite 4 had a roster of Touros and the 3 Eeveelutions, but was made a Ghost Trainer instead.

All of these changes were done late in this development stage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Green/Blue once had a Younger Brother. He was scrapped early in this stage of development.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arcanine was once planned to be a Legendary Pokemon, but due to Arcanine not fitting in with the Birds, this plan was scrapped Late in development and was made the Evolution of Growlith instead.

Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite were Also planned to be Legendaries, but that idea was scrapped, as well.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A history of Mew - Satoshi Tajiri conceived Mew as a hidden Pokémon inspired by a hidden/unused F4 phantom fighter ship in Xevious.

In the world of arcade machines in general, "facts" like these were sometimes reported as misinformation in related print media, similar to the "Pokégod" rumors which emerged on old Geocities sites. Mew's elusive existence is also what inspired its status as the first Mythical Pokémon. There were no true resources available for datamining video games at the time, so confermation of their existence was impossible.

There were also various glitches (which were misinterpeted as rumors or secrets) were discovered in the games to actually obtain Mew without a cheat device or a distribution event.

Tajiri was a huge arcade fan and was not just interested in the games themselves, but how they internally functioned.

Other than its initial conception by Tajiri,Shigeki Morimoto created everything there is about Mew, writing its Pokédex entry, choosing its cry, and even drawing its sprite. When the game was just about to officially finish development, once the debug features were removed, he used what little space had been freed up to insert Mew.

Ken Sugimori was originally asked to make Mew, but since the development of the games were so close to completion, there was no time left to design it himself, leaving Shigeki Morimoto to do it himself. Mew's sprite is also only 40×40 pixels because this was ideal for saving space.

Game Freak wanted a Pokémon that would serve as the origin of Mewtwo other than the indirect references in the Pokémon Mansion (in fact, Mewtwo was actually programmed and designed into the game first). The debugging process of Red and Green was the most expensive in Nintendo's history, and despite strict orders for Red and Green not to be edited after the debugging features were removed, Shigeki Morimoto did it anyway.

To do so, he namely overwrote the first empty index slot he found, resulting in Mew being found early in the internal index. It was only later that Mew was discovered, and Morimoto was quite surprised to find out that this was the case, with Mew instantly becoming the source for many playground rumors.

Mewtwo was originally conceived without Mew, with the latter actually being designed after the former. It then becomes clear that Mew was originally just a being that was never to be seen, its name only mentioned in the Pokémon Mansion journals. When it comes to the canon, the two were later reworked into a "perfect original being and imperfect clone" duo.

===========================================================

Pokemon Gen 1 - Final Kanto

Pikachu wasn't supposed to be the Mascot, instead it was Clefairy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Professor Oak was meant to be a Post-Game Super Boss. With a very high level team and the best A.I. out of all of the Trainers in the game. This fight was scrapped for unknown reasons.

Oak's roster would've had a Gyarados, an Exeggutor, an Arcanine, a Tauros, and the Fully Evolved Starter that neither the Player, not the Rival had chosen.

-------------------------------------------------------

Missingno is a Glitch that is, in reality, junk data of the deleted Pokemon.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Link Trade sequence was gonna have it's own unique song. This was scrapped for time.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our Pokemon Red and Blue is just Japan's Pokemon Red and Green with the Japanese Blue's Sprites. So, in a way, Our games are kinda unique.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was once a Pokemon Pink planned, which would've had Clefairy as it's main Pokemon and would've been the counterpart to Pokemon Yellow.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Pokemon Yellow, Giovanni was gonna have his own theme. This was scrapped for time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another Pokemon Yellow fact.- The Player gets to manipulate which Eeveelution Blue/Green/Gary will get. If the Player beats him in Oak's Lab and then on Route 22, Blue/Green/Gary will evolve his Eevee into a Jolteon.

If the Player beat him in the Oak's Lab, but loses to him on Route 22, he'll evolve his Eevee into a Flareon. And In an act of Super Arrogance, he'll evolve Eevee into a Vaporeon if the Player loses to him both in Oak's Lab and on Route 22.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another Yellow exclusive factoid - All 151 Pokemon were gonna have their Anime Cries, not just Pikachu. But, due to the poor quality of the cries And the fact that Nintendo would've needed to change most of the cries for each region, this idea was scrapped.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pokémon Yellow contains an unused encounter type  For this type, attempting to fight, access the item menu, or switch Pokémon triggers the unique message "Hurry, get away!" The player has no choice but to run. Escaping from this encounter type is 100%.

Because this encounter type only exists in Yellow, it may be that players would once have had the option to obtain their own Pikachu beyond the walls of Pallet Town, rather than being forcibly gifted one by Professor Oak before leaving. In this scenario, an encounter mode in which players were forced to escape if their party was empty would be essential for preventing the player from sending out an invalid Pokémon

And That's the end of the Generation 1 facts that I know. Stay tuned for Part 2, where I spit out some of the best factoids of Generation 2 (my favorite pokemon generation).
