The Rise, Fall and (Possible) Rebirth of Sailor Moon! Chapter 5: Sailor Senshi, Front and Center! Part 1 - The Main Cast

Before we get started, I want to thank Stefan for helping me out on this blog. I know some of the manga because I got the Sailor V mangas and Vol. 1 of the Sailor Moon manga. If I had all the manga, I would've of know alot. Here in the American Cartoon Federation, it's all about teamwork and determination and we will make a difference, especially in the world of animation. Thanks Stefan for helping me out here. With all the movie making and bloging I am doing, I definently need all the help I could get. Anyway, speaking of teamwork, let's get crackin'.

The following list of the 411 on the characters, the senshi, their friends and they enemies from the storyarcs themselves. If I don't have any much on the characters from Sailor Stars, I am sorry, cause I never saw the final season (stupid politics). Anyway, in this part, I will talk about the senshi, their allies and their friends. Here we go:

Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon: The leader of the Sailor Senshi and the reincarnation of Princess Serenity. As Princess Serenity, she was kind and noble like her mother, Queen Serenity. But, when she was incarnated into Usagi, she wasn't as noble as she once was. Usagi is a lazy, ditzy schoolgirl who cries alot, eats too much, plays alot of video games, idolizes boys and so on and so forth. but when she became Sailor Moon, all of her normal teen angst doubled ten fold. Initially, she didn't take her Sailor business seriously but overtime, she slowly started to except her destiny after she was discovered to be the long lost Moon Princess and guardian of the Ginzuishou or Silver Crystal. Although she is not the strong, wise warrior, what she lacks in strength makes up, so to speak, with courage, which is one of my 5 virtues by the way. She eventually becomes Neo-Queen Serenity of 30th Century Crystal Tokyo. Her name means "Bunny of the Moon" in Japanese. Her American name is Serena.

Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury: The brains of the Senshi. Ami Mizuno is one of the smartest people in the world. Her I.Q. is about 300, the same as the I.Q. of Dr. Ivo Robotnik. But unlike Robotnik, Ami-chan doesn't start a tantrum like Eggman does. Anyway, as Sailor Mercury, she has the power of both water and ice. But she is mostly used in defense and strategy, especially when she has her VR Visor for analysis and a mini-computer to help her figure out how to beat her enemies. On a serious note, Sailor Mercury is my favorite senshi because her birthday is one September 10th and what so special about that you ask. In the beginning, Ami-chan's birthday was just another birthday. But after the tragegy that is 9/11, I now think of her birthday as the birthday before 9/11. Not only celebrate her birthday, but I also honor those brave people who died on that dreadful day. Her name means "Friend of Water" in Japanese. "Be Water, my friend" as Bruce Lee once said. Her American name is Amy.

Rei Hino/Sailor Mars: Rei Hino is a young Miko who lives with her grandfather at the Hikawa Shrine. Although she is mostly calm, Rei-Rei (a nickname I made up myself) has a hot temper, so to speak, especially having arguments with Usagi, personality-wise and leadership-wise. As Sailor Mars, she has the power of fire, which she use to burn her foes into a cinder. Also, she can also sense evil vibes indicating that her foes are near. Other than her powers, she uses her Anti-Evil Ofuda Scrolls to stun her foes by saying Akuryo Taisan, which translates to "Evil Spirits Begone!" Her pet crows names are Phobos and Deimos, named after two of Mars' Moons. Her name means "Spirit of Fire" in Japanese. Her American name is Raye.

Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter: Now this Senshi is one tough cookie! Makoto Kino is a schoolgirl who was transfered from her old school because she got into fights in the drop of a hat but now goes to Juuban Junior High (the same school Usagi and Ami goes). Speaking of which, that is her personality, well, not all of it and here's why. Even though she looks tough and often get into fights, but she is mostly kind, when it comes to making friends. Her favorite hobby is cooking because she wanted to be one of the finest cooks in all of Japan. Her one weakness is being boy-crazy. Everytime she sees a handsome boy, she thinks of them as her old boyfriend, but that's for another time. As Sailor Jupiter, she has the power of nature, thunder and lightning, now that's shocking. Her name means "Faithfulness of Wood" in Japanese. Her American name is Lita

Minako Aino/Sailor V/Sailor Venus: This senshi needs no introduction. She was the main hero before Sailor Moon came to be. Just like Usagi, Minako is a ditz and likes to idolize boys too much. As Sailor V, she was assigned to stop the Dark Agency before discovering her true destiny to protect the Moon Princess as Sailor Venus. As Sailor Venus, she has the power of light, straight from her Cresent Beam to her Love Me Chain. Her name means "Beautiful Child of Love" in Japanese. Her American name is Mina.

Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask: Sailor Moon's valiant protector. In the beginning, he was Prince Endymion of Earth. He was Princess Serenity's lover and vows to watch over her, no matter what. When the Dark Kingdom ravaged the Moon Kingdom, Endymion died in battle. When Endymion was reborn on Earth as Mamoru, his personality was a bit complicated. When he was a kid, he almost died of a car accident, but he survived and rather remembering his current memories, he remembers his past. Years later, Mamoru is a college student and often picks on Usagi, calling her an Odango Head or Meatball Head. Mamoru and Usagi were at the wrong foot in the beginning, but overtime, they became friends and thereafter, lovers. As Tuxedo Mask, he dresses like Mandrake the Magician, but with a mask. Whenever Sailor Moon and the other senshi are in trouble, he throws his roses like a pair of Kunais. He also has his cane, which not uses it in the same manner Goku uses his Power Pole, but he uses it mostly for close quarters combat. He was evil for a short time by Queen Beryl, had a fighting spirit under the name the Moonlight Knight and eventually becomes King Endymion of Crystal Tokyo. His name means "Protector of the Earth" in Japanese. His American name is Darien.

Chibiusa/Sailor Chibimoon: The daughter of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion of Crystal Tokyo. She came to the present in search of the Silver Crystal in order to save both the present and future of Tokyo. Chibiusa has Sailor Moon's hairstyle but it resembled bunny ears and it was pink. She may look cute and innocent, but she is more clever and cunning than we thought. Her Lunasphere can change into anything, a parasol, a baby bottle, a slingshot, and so on and so forth. She also has her Crystal Key, which enables her to travel through time, which explains how she ended up in the present. But, when she used it once, the gravity was gone, temporary anyway. And whenever she starts crying too much, her crescent moon insignia appears on her forehead, which causes to fire off the Moon Beam, which contain a lot of power. Like Tuxedo Mask, she was manipulated and turned evil, which turned her into Black Lady. As Black Lady, she was infused with the power the Dark Crystal. Eventually, thanks to Sailor Moon and her friends, the spell was broken and she was back to normal. Later on, she becomes the littlest Sailor Senshi, Sailor Chibimoon. As Chibimoon, her powers are almost as similar to Sailor Moon, but a little weaker, especially with her Pink Sugar Heart Attack. But her powers evolved in time, thanks to the power of Pegasus. Her name is the same as Usagi, but it was shortened with Chibi next to it so we won't get confused. Her American name is Rini/Sailor MiniMoon.

Luna, Artemis & Diana: The Senshi's guardian cats. During the times of the Silver Millenium, Luna and Artemis served as advisors to Queen Serenity until its destruction by the Dark Kingdom. When Queen Serenity died, she sends Luna and Artemis to Earth to watch over her daugther and the other senshi. Since then, Luna became Sailor Moon's mentor while Artemis became Sailor Venus' partner. Luna may look cute, but she is wise beyond her years. While Artemis, although he is smart, he isn't as bright as Luna. Diana came later on in the series. Diana is Luna & Artemis' daughter from the future and a guardian in training and companion to Chibiusa.

Haruka Tenoh/Sailor Uranus: The senshi of the outer solar system. As Haruka, she is a tomboy, mostly wearing men's clothing, including her school uniform for the Mugen School. Her favorite hobby is driving race cars. I guess she has the need...THE NEED FOR SPEED!! Anyway, as Sailor Uranus, she has the power of the Earth, which is extremely powerful. But unlike the other senshi, she is cold and calculating, which puts her at odds with Sailor Moon and the other senshi. She is the bearer of the Space Sword of Uranus. Her name means "Far Sky King" in Japanese. Her American name is Amara.

Michiru Kaiou/Sailor Neptune: The senshi of the outer solar system, whose beauty matches that of the sea itself. Although she could be cold and mean like her partner/lover, Sailor Uranus, Michiru is mostly kind and elegant. Her favorite hobbies are not only painting and swimming, but she is also a skilled violinist. Her performance on the violin is as elegant as the golden voice of a mermaid. As Sailor Neptune, she has the power over water, which is more powerful than that of Sailor Mercury. She is the bearer of the Aqua Mirror of Neptune. Her name means "Maturing Sea King" in Japanese. Her American name is Michele.

Setsuna Meioh/Sailor Pluto: the outer senshi of time and space. She is the one who guards to door through time and she was the only friend Chibiusa talks to when she was in the present. Unlike Sailors Uranus and Neptune, Sailor Pluto is willing to help the other Sailor Senshi for Chibiusa's sake. When she is Setsuna, she works as a university nurse. As Sailor Pluto, she has the power over time and space itself. She is the bearer of the Garnet Orb of Pluto. Just like Sailor Mercury, Sailor Pluto is my other favorite senshi. She is my favorite for another reason. Long ago, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) demoted Pluto as one of the nine planets of the solar system due to a bogus claim of a so-called "Definition of a Planet." That decision outrage many people who observe the solar system, and believe me, I am one of them. Without Pluto, how can kids say the line "My Very Educated Mother Just Serve Us Nine Pies" now. Since then, I continue to make my stance and still believe to this day that Pluto is, and always will be, a planet. And those IAU eggheads can SIT ON IT!! Her name means "Momentary Dark King" in Japanese. Her American name is Trista.

Hotaru Tomoe/Sailor Saturn: the outer senshi of death and rebirth and daughter of Professor Souichi Tomoe. As a child, Hotaru was left for dead and Professor Tomoe was scarred after a freak laboratory accident but was forced to serve the dark forces from the Tau Nebula in order to save Hotaru. Years later, Hotaru, now a teenager, was alive and well, but unknown to her, she was possessed the evil of the Messiah of Silence, Mistress Nine. Although the outer senshi didn't trust her, Hotaru's only friend was Chibiusa. It didn't take long for the Death Busters to kidnap Sailor Chibimoon to use her to bring back Mistress Nine. However, Mistress Nine's reign of destruction was short-lived when Hotaru broke free and she was reborn as Sailor Saturn. Unfortunately, after the demise of Pharaoh 90, she was turned back into a baby after she was saved by Sailor Moon. In the Sailor Stars arc, Hotaru returns as Sailor Saturn to aid the senshi against Sailor Galaxia. As Sailor Saturn, she has the powers of darkness, death and rebirth and she is armed with her Silence Glaive. Next to Prince Zuko, Piccolo and Dark Warlord Anubis/Oni Masho Shuten Doji, Sailor Saturn is one of many animated characters who started bad, but ended up fighting for good. Her name means "Firefly Rising from Earth" in Japanese, which resembles the season of Spring, the season of rebirth. Her Supposed American name was Tara, but the dubbers decided to let little Hotaru-chan keep her name. Though they mispronounced her family's name.

The Three Lights/Sailor Starlights: Sailor Senshi from another galaxy, whose planet was destroyed by Sailor Galaxia. Their mission was to find Princess Kakyuu of planet Kinmoku. In their civilian forms, Taiki, Seiya and Yaten Kou a.k.a. Sailor Star Maker, Fighter and Healer, use their occupation as a music band known as the Three Lights as a front for their mission. As the Starlights, their outfits are much different than the usual senshi fuku, making them more like dominatrix-like, but no knowledge on their powers. The Sailor Starlights caused alot of controversy in the anime. When they were portrayed as real men in the anime, it angered Naoko-chan. No wonder why we didn't get an english dub of Sailor Stars.

Chibi Chibi/Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon: A senshi that looks like a miniturized version of Usagi and Chibiusa. In the anime, she was born as the Light of Hope, the star seed of Galaxia before she was corrupted. In the manga, she was Sailor Cosmos, who was Sailor Moon's ultimate form. After fighting Sailor Chaos and destroyed most of the future, she heads to the present to help Sailor Moon and the others fight the forces of Chaos.

Princess Kakyuu: The ruler of the planet Kinmoku who the Starlights are looking for. In the manga, she was also known as Sailor Kakyuu.

Ikuko and Kenji Tsukino: Usagi's earth parents. Ikuko is a stay at home mother while Kenji is a magazine reporter. Both Usagi's parents were named after and based of Naoko-chan's real life parents. Coincidence? I think not.

Shingo Tsukino: Usagi's bratty little brother. Although annoying, deep down, he cares for Usagi. His American name is Sammy.

Grandpa Hino: Rei's grandfather who works at the Hikawa Shrine. In the manga, he is tall, has a mustache and had a head full of hair. While in the anime, he is a little, bald-headed old man, who, although is kind, is a bit crazy, especially flirting with young girls, just like Master Roshi.

Naru Osaka: Usagi's best friend whose mother runs the jewelry store, OSA*P. She was the first of many people who were targets of the Dark Kingdom, only to be bailed out by Sailor Moon. One of her most dramatic moments in her life is meeting and befriending Nephrite, who was later killed by Zoicite while protecting her. Other than that, Naru is a very strong willed person. Her American name is Molly.

Gurio Umino: Usagi and Naru's nerdy friend. Although intelligent, he is also arrogant about his intellect. He is often seen in his spiral glasses. He looks a bit like Gurikazu Amano from the Sailor V manga. His American name is Melvin.

Haruna Sakurada: Usagi's teacher from Juuban Junior High. Although a strict teacher when it comes to Usagi's laziness, she sometime acts spacey when it comes to finding a husband. Her sister, Natsuna, is the superintendent general of the Metropolitan Police. Her American name is Patricia Haruna.

Motoki Furuhata: One of Usagi's good friends and is best friends with Mamoru Chiba. He works at the Crown Game Center, where Usagi hangs out and plays video games like the Sailor V arcade game. He was refered to as "bro" by Usagi and her friends (in the manga anyway). He has a sister named, Unazuki, who Usagi mistaken as a rival for the affection of Mamoru at the time. His American name is Andrew.

Yuchiro Kumada: A hippie-like young man who helps out at the Hikawa Shrine and has a crush on Rei Hino (Sailor Mars). His American name is Chad.

That's all with the main characters I could think of. Next time, we are not done with the characters yet cause I will talk about the villains from all 5 story arcs. Until then, Stay Gold and Godspeed.

End of Line...

The Rise, Fall and (Possible) Rebirth of Sailor Moon - Chapter 4 - More Differences Between the Manga and the Anime

Before we get on to the Characters. Here are some more major differences between The Anime and The Manga.

The drawing style in the manga is more detailed but whispier than that of the anime, and the characters are much prettier, especially in SailorStars where Takeuchi's beautiful style is clearly at its peak. The manga tankubon and the art books are really worth getting if for the artwork alone. The characters and the plotline in the manga are much more mature and deeper than those of the anime especially in SuperS. The anime and manga can stand by themselves, but the manga has more of the dramatics and less of the generally pleasant aura that's in the anime. There is suicide, plenty of violence, disgusting looking monsters/youmas/daimons/etc, sex implied, and more of the like. However, nothing in the manga would scare anyone over the age of 10. On the other hand, the majority of the enemies in the anime are much more developed than in the manga; in the manga, the villains tend to be pure evil and only get one or two acts before being destroyed.

Now I will list the Differences by Arc.

Sailormoon [Original]

- Mamoru [darien] is in high school, contrary to being in college in the anime.

- Mamoru wears glasses occassionally.

- Zoicite and Kunzite [malachite] are not gay. Nephlite does not fall in love with Naru [molly].

- There's no search for the nijizuishou[rainbow crystals] - they don't exist, and consequentally there aren't the seven strongest youma reincarnated as humans. In other words, Urawa or Joe are not in the manga.

- Yuuichirou [chad] also does not exist. The Dark Kingdom is after the ginzuishou [silver crystal] from the beginning.

- Rei [raye] and Mamoru do not date; they show no attraction to each other.

- Rei is noticably more mature and sophisticated in the manga; she and Usagi [serena] don't have little squirmishes of sticking out their tongues at each other, though Usagi calls her mean once.

- Tuxedo Mask reveals to all of Tokyo that there is a powerful stone known as the ginzuishou in an attempt to gather information about where the ginzuishou is.

- Mamoru knows that Usagi is Sailor Moon at the masquerade party after she drops her handkerchief with her name on it. He reveals his identity to her later on after carrying her home upon her fainting from using up her power to heal the people of Tokyo. Actually, Mamoru suspects Usagi is Sailormoon before that, having seen Usagi -transform into a stewardess and repeatedly running into Usagi when she is busy talking to Luna.

- Tuxedo Mask doesn't throw a single rose throughout all 18 tankubon.

- Sailor Venus is thought to be the princess of the moon, and she says that she is in order to protect the identity of Princess Serenity, the true Princess. In actuality, she is the real leader of the Sailor Senshi.

- When the Sailor Senshi travel to the moon, they find a stone sword in the ground which Venus immediately takes charge of. This sword is absent in the anime.

- Beryl and the four generals were reincarnated on Earth after Metallia was sealed away underground by Queen Serenity.

- Princess Serenity committed suicide on the moon after Endymion was killed by Beryl.

- Queen Serenity did not use the full power of the ginzuishou because she was so distraught over the death of her daughter and the senshi. She left her "will" in the Moon Kingdom computer, and it was her will that the senshi met on the moon.

- The four generals are the protectors of Prince Endymion. After their deaths, their bodies melt into the four stones that they represent. Beryl gives evil Endymion the stones. The stones, which possess the souls of the four generals, play small roles in later tankubon.

- Tuxedo Mask dies after saving Sailor Moon from Kunzite's blast; he is brought back to life with Metallia's power, and he poses as Endou, Motoki's [andrew's] best friend. He tries to get Usagi to reveal to him her secrets dealing with the Sailor Senshi and the ginzuishou.

- Sailor Venus kills Beryl with the sword, so Metallia becomes the major enemy, rather than Beryl infused with Metallia being the enemy like in the anime.

- Sailor Moon tries to kill Endymion with the sword, then attempts to commit suicide. After their "deaths", Metallia absorbs them and the ginzuishou and starts to take over the Earth.

- The Sailor Team dies trying to use their combined powers to reach Sailormoon. Sailormoon awakens within Metallia, and her tears cause the ginzuishou to blossom into a flower-shape. Using her power and that of her dead friends, she combines the ginzuishou and the Moon Stick [crecent moon wand] to destroy Metallia by focusing all her energies on the mark on Metallia's head, where Metallia's heart is.

- The Silver Millennium is reestablished by Sailor Moon and the power of the ginzuishou. Usagi is the heir to the kingdom but chooses to go back to her life on Earth instead.

- The Sailor Senshi don't lose their memories upon being brought back to life.

- Sailor Moon gets her power-up at the very end, right before the Black Moon arc in the manga begins.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sailormoon: Black Moon [R]

- There are NO aliens like Ali [allen] and En [ann]. The alien arc was a filler for the anime so that the manga could get far enough ahead of it.

- The Ayakashi Sisters are not healed; they are all killed by Sailor Moon.

- Sailor Moon's rod is created by her and Tuxedo Mask, not given to her by Queen Serenity.

- Tuxedo Mask gains an actual attack and power, "Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber".

- Before they die, the Ayakashi Sisters manage to capture Mars, Mercury, and Jupiter, who are brought by Rubeus [rubius] to Nemesis in the 30th century. Only Venus, Moon, Tuxedo Mask travel with Chibi-usa [rini] into the future.

- Chibi-Usa is actually 900 years old, and she carries the future ginzuishou around, so it's not 'hidden' inside of her like the anime.

- Rather than having too much power, as in the anime, Chibi-usa suffers from a lack of it in the manga.

- Diana shows up in the Black Moon arc instead of in the Dream arc (SuperS).

- Safir [sapphire] doesn't turn good; rather, he tries to kill Usagi, whom he feels is responsible for his brother's change. He remains under the influence of Black Lady [wicked lady] and Wiseman, and when called to kill Demando [diamond], Demando kills him instead. Esmeraude [emerald] is killed by Tuxedo Mask, and Rubeus is killed by Wiseman. Demando is killed by Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask; though Demando finally realizes Wiseman has been using him, he does not turn to good, as he seems to in the anime.

- Black Lady captures and brainwashes Mamoru, whom she calls Endymion. Mamoru, under Black Lady's command, attacks Sailormoon and gets her ginzuishou.

- Sailor Pluto is shown more in the manga, and she actually plays a large role towards the end. She dies after using her forbidden power, the "Time Stop", in order to prevent Prince Demando from bringing the two ginzuishou together.

- How Black Lady reverts to normal is different from the anime as well. After Pluto dies, Black Lady remembers how Pluto was her only friend when she was Chibi-usa. When Black Lady starts to cry, her black crystal earrings shatter, and her tears turn into the ginzuishou. She turns into Sailor Chibimoon [sailor minimoon]. Chibi-usa becomes a Sailor Senshi in the Black Moon arc rather than in the Infinity (S) arc.

- Sailor Moon doesn't turn into Neo-Queen Serenity, though she appears to take on Serenity's characteristics or seems to speak for her. However, she does actually meet with Neo-Queen Serenity face-to-face.

- Sailor Moon gets her new power-up at the end of the Black Moon arc, from Neo-Queen Serenity. Neo-Queen Serenity also gives the other senshi power-ups.

- Chibi-usa plans on returning to the future, but returns to the 20th century rather quickly, interrupting Usagi and Mamoru's kiss with a letter from Neo-Queen Serenity saying she's there to fulfill her training as a Sailor Senshi.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sailormoon: Infinity [S]

- Uranus and Neptune are not after the heart crystals, though they are searching for the third Talisman.

- Haruka and Michiru are hostile to the Sailor Team even in the beginning, except for Haruka with Usagi and Michiru with Mamoru. Usagi is very jealous of Michiru, and Mamoru is jealous of Haruka. However, Usagi's jealousy is unfounded, whereas Mamoru actually has a reason.

- "Uranus is a senshi of both genders." Takeuchi-san said that only women can be Sailor Senshi, meaning Haruka is definitely a woman, and this line is symbolic rather than literal.

- Michiru doesn't paint.

- Oddly enough, the Marine Cathedral, unlike the place where Eudial takes the heart crystals of Uranus and Neptune in the anime, is in reference to where Michiru's violin is supposed to have come from.

- Neptune and Uranus accepted Sailor Moon as the Princess right off, not having to make her prove she's the Messiah [sovereign] or anything like at the end of S.

- The daimon are different, and they all look like the one in the S episode that talks about Haruka and Michiru's pasts (SMS 106).

- The Witches 5 have one shot deals, and their plots are somewhat different.

- The three Talismans call Saturn to awaken, rather than forming the Holy Grail [purity chalace] in the anime, though they also do that in the manga. The Holy Grail in the manga is a combination of the powers of Moon, Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune.

- Hotaru is darker than her anime form, being a sort of cyborg. That is, she is part machine and part human, thanks to the experimenting her father did on her. Tomoe, by the way, was attempting to create a race of superhuman cyborgs, beginning with Hotaru, but during his experiments, he did something wrong with her.

- Professor Tomoe is killed, and he doesn't come back. Super Sailor Moon kills him after he turns into a daimon.

- The ending is much more dramatic, with Saturn doing her "Death Reborn Revolution" and then Pluto sealing her away with "Dark Dome Close".

- The Senshi get their Super forms in S too, and the second Holy Grail gives Chibimoon her power-up.

- Master Pharaoh 90 is actually a large threat, and you see him clearly in his true form too, unlike the anime, where he's more of a pinwheel type of a thing with tentacles.

- Pluto remains until the very end of the Infinity arc, not disappearing or anything.

- Neptune, Pluto, and Uranus leave to raise Baby Hotaru.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sailormoon: Dream [SuperS]

- The biggest difference is that the Amazoness Quartet are Sailor Senshi, and they aren't in the anime. After they are sealed in balls by Zirconia, Saturn takes the balls and presents them to Neo-Queen Serenity, and she frees them. They then are revealed to be the Sailor Quartet, and then they leave with the promise to Chibi-usa that they will be there to guard her in the future. In the anime, the Quartet becomes normal girls.

- Artemis and Diana get their human forms, but not in the anime.

- Phobos and Deimos [sailor mars' favorite crows] get their human forms as well.

- Fisheye isn't gay.

- Mamoru coughs up black blood, as does Usagi later on, due to the black curse.

- The Outer Senshi come back in manga 14, rather than being dumped from the anime.

- Hotaru lives with Haruka, Setsuna, and Michiru (who have promise rings), and then she grows up pretty quickly (like in the nehelenia saga of the sailor stars anime).

- Hotaru's memories are regained, and she gives the Outer Senshi their powerups- their heart crystals. They all say "Planet Crystal Power, Make-Up." (in the anime, this only happens in sailor stars)

- Hotaru can play the violin in the manga. However, when she does, she creates visions of things, such as Chibi-usa crying over a dead Pegasus.

- The Sailor Senshi get the ability to transform into their Super forms, generally from their guardians. Rei, Minako [mina], and the Outer Senshi are exceptions. Rei gets her Super power-up from the human Phobos and Deimos; Minako gets it from the human Artemis; and Hotaru gives it to her parents.

- Mamoru has the Golden Crystal inside of him, rather than it being the horn of Elios [helios].

- Towards the end of tankubon 15, the senshi also receive their SailorStar forms and Princess forms.
Sailormoon gains her final form as Eternal Sailor Moon.

- Nehelenia is not a sweet little child who only wants a friend; she's really evil, having placed a dark curse on Serenity at birth and wanting to rule the moon and Earth, and Eternal Sailormoon destroys her with the help of all the Senshi.

- Chibimoon revives Elios up after her silver crystal is transformed into the Pink Moon Crystal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sailormoon: SailorStars [Sailor Stars]

- There is no Nehelenia in this season of the manga; this was finished in the Dream arc of the manga.

- Eternal Sailor Moon's henshin phrase is different from the anime's.

- The Outer Senshi are main characters, at least until tankubon 17, rather than occassional appearances in the anime.

- Haruka and Michiru do go to the Juuban High School with the Sailor Team. Haruka has to wear a dress, though sometimes she wears the male uniform. Hotaru goes to the same school as Chibi-usa but is in a different class.

- The Sailor Starlights are 100% female in the Manga, they're just crossdress. However,in the Anime, they can physically turn into males. Naoko-san was upset about this change.

- I don't think that Usagi and Seiya date in the Manga. Someone fact check this for me.

- A whole bunch of Animamates from the anime appear, but there are new ones too, like Mnemosyne, Lethe, and Heavy Metal Papillon. There's also Phi and Chi, non-Animamates.

- Kakyuu is a Sailor Senshi too.

- The Sailor Quartet return with Sailor Star Chibimoon, unlike the anime, where she was dropped and the Sailor Quartet never existed to begin with.

- The Sailor Senshi are killed off rather quickly. All the main ones except for Chibichibi and Moon die by the end of tankubon 16.

- Unlike the anime, Neptune and Uranus get cheap death scenes. They're not even shown being killed, rather only little flashes that are vague. The Sailor Team gets better ones (Mercury and Jupiter first, then Mars and Venus, then Pluto and Hotaru, and finally Uranus and Neptune, though it's unclear who dies first- Uranus or Neptune).

- The Sailor Starlights do die in the manga at the end of tankubon 17.

- Chibimoon vanishes because Mamoru is killed by Galaxia later on. Fortunately, she is shown later on as a small figure, telling Usagi how she'll be waiting for her in the future.

- ChibiChibi can actually talk like a normal person later on in the manga.

- The rest of the Sailor Senshi become evil, attacking Sailormoon, and she kills them.

- Tuxedo Mask is killed, but later he's alive again, brainwashed by Galaxia. He's then killed again by Galaxia, being pushed off a cliff.

- It's discovered that Chaos is from the Cauldron, a place where all stars are formed, including all the Sailor Senshi, so in a way, Sailormoon is 'related' to all the enemies she killed previously. The enemies were, Chaos tells her, forms of herself who wanted Sailor Moon's power from her ginzuishou.

- It's explained that there are really an unlimited amount of Sailor Senshi in the universe.
The kitties become human under Tin Nyanko's influence, but she blasts them, and they turn into cats unable to speak. They're eventually killed by Sailor Lethe.

- Galaxia dies.

- ChibiChibi is really another senshi, Sailor Cosmos. In the future, she was running away from Chaos, so she traveled to the past disgusied as Chibichibi in order to reverse her "mistake" of not destroying the Cauldron.

- At the end of the manga, Usagi and Mamoru get married, though the date of the marriage isn't specified. It can't be too far in the future, I'm guessing, seeing how Hotaru remains a young child in the wedding pictures.

- What happens to the Starlights and Kakyuu isn't shown, nor the cats. It's assumed that they're revived though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well thats it. Next time,Dragonranger will be giving you the 411 about the Characters themselves.

Stay Gold.

The Rise, Fall and (Possible) Rebirth of Sailor Moon! Chapter 3 - Differences Between the Manga and the Anime

Even though both the manga and anime versions of Sailor Moon were great.  But, there are very different in many ways.  Here are some examples I could think of:

In the manga, the first 2 senshi joined Sailor Moon, 2 chapters in a row, while in the anime, Sailor Moon has to fight solo in 4 to 5 episodes before the first senshi, Sailor Mercury joins in, then 2 episodes later, Sailor Mars joins in and so on and so forth.  Another example are the Dark Generals Jadeite and Nephrite, who met their fate, but how they met their fate are completely different.  Take Jadeite for instance, in the manga, he was killed off by Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars by the Tiara Action/Evil Begone combo while in the anime, he was defeated by the senshi, but since he failed Queen Beryl numerous times, he was placed in eternal sleep forever. Nephrite, just like Jadeite, met his end, too, but his fate was different, too.  In the manga, he was killed off by Sailor Jupiter while in the anime he was killed by one of his own, Zoicite, while protecting Naru and this is before Sailor Jupiter joined, in the anime anyway.

Another example is the Sailor Moon R arc. In the manga, it began with the arrival of Crimson Rubeus and the Ayakashi sisters of the Black Moon Clan.  But in the anime, it didn't began with the Black Moon Clan, it started with a completely original storyarc, which involved the Makaiju and its caretakers, Ann and Ail, two aliens who put Piccolo to shame. Ann is an extremely, jealous, alien broad who is obsessed of getting her way, while Ail is the calm thinking alien who plays his flute.  In order to keep the Makaiju alive, they used monsters call Cardians to drain the humans of their energy and it's up to Sailor Moon and the senshi to stop them.  Tuxedo Mask was M.I.A. in the storyarc, instead they got the Moonlight Knight, who was revealed to be the fighting spirit of Endymion himself.  This was during the time Naoko-chan was working on the Black Moon Clan arc in the manga.  I don't know much about the details but that's all I know.  Oh, one more thing, the ending of the arc is completely different.  We all know that the Wiseman manipulated Chibiusa and turned her into Black Lady.  But how to change her back, that was totally different.  In the anime, Sailor Moon used the full power of the Silver Crystal to become Neo-Queen Serenity and convinced Black Lady that everyone, the senshi and her mother and father, all loved her and she changed back into Chibiusa.  While in the manga, Sailor Pluto, the senshi of time and space, gave her life to save the senshi, but at the cost of her life.  That made Black Lady come to her senses and it not only changed her back into Chibiusa, but became the littlest Sailor Senshi, Sailor Chibimoon.

However, not everything between the manga and anime are different. Some of the elements from the manga were used for the anime. For instance, in the Sailor Mars arc, the dissapearing buses, and Usagi disguising herself as a flight attendant, both were the same in the anime and manga.  Same goes with the storyarc where Usagi dressed up for the ball, you know, the one where Usagi used her parasol as a parachute to save herself and Tuxedo Mask.

Well, that is with the differences with the anime and manga and some references from the manga that was used for the anime.  Stay tuned next time as I talk about the characters themselves.  Until then, Stay Gold and Godspeed.

The Rise, Fall and (Possible) Rebirth of Sailor Moon! Chapter 2 - A Legend is Born!

With Codename: Sailor V completed, Naoko-chan was prepared to do her next work, which eventually became the stuff of legends. Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon first appeared in the manga which began in 1991 and ended its run on April of 1997.  The anime came a year after from March 7th, 1992 to February 8th 1997. Sailor Moon is like Codename: Sailor V at light speed and then some. Sailor Moon is the first of many anime/manga series that aimed towards girls known as Shojo or the Magical Girl genre. But, Sailor Moon is not just aimed for girls, it's aimed for all genders, including those of the male demographic. Anyway, Sailor Moon combines astronomy, astrology, Greek myth, Roman myth, geology, Japanese elemental themes, teen fashions, and schoolgirl antics into one epic storyline. But since we're in the subject of story, let's get going and Mr. Narrator, I'll take it from here.

It all began a 1,000 years ago, the Moon Kingdom was the shining beacon of both the Silver Millenium and the Solar System itself. It was ruled by the graceful and honorable Queen Serenity, who has a daughter with her namesake.  Although following her mother's footsteps, Princess Serenity is in love with Prince Endymion of Earth, who fights for both the Moon Kingdom and Earth. Unfortunately, their union was short lived because it was during troubled times the Dark Kingdom attacked and ravaged the entire Moon Kingdom.  Not even the queen's Sailor Senshi couldn't stop the wrath of Metallia and her followers. In her last ditch effort, Queen Serenity used the power of the Silver Crystal to stop the Dark Kingdom's reign of destruction. However, by doing so, it has drained her of all her energy.  With the last of her strength, Queen Serenity sends her daughter, Endymion, the Senshi and everyone else to their new future on Earth, with no memory of their former existence.  To ensure that no harm comes to her daughter, Queen Serenity sends Luna and Artemis to watch over her until the time is right. Fast foward to the present...

1992 A.D., 1,000 years later

Princess Serenity was reborn as 14 year old Usagi Tsukino, a young, ditzy schoolgirl who cries alot, does poorly in school, eats alot, plays video games, thinks about boys and so on and so forth. But her life changed forever when she meets Luna, who gave her a transformation broach and uttering the words, "Moon Prism Power, Make-Up!," she becomes the pretty suited Sailor Soldier of Love and Justice...Sailor Moon.

Just like Sailor V, more on her later, Sailor Moon didn't take her senshi business seriously in the beginning. But in time, she eventually matured and will give her life to save the universe.  Think of her as a hero in training.  Intially, she fought against the minions of the Dark Kingdom alone, but she was aided by her mysterious protector, Tuxedo Mask.  Later on, she was eventually joined by her fellow Sailor Senshi, Sailor Mercury - the brains of the team, Sailor Mars - who is mostly calm, but has a hot temper, Sailor Jupiter - even though she is tough and strong, but she is very tender, and of course, Sailor Venus - Sailor V makes her scene, helping her fellow senshi.  Together, the Sailor Senshi fought and defeated Queen Beryl and the entire Dark Kingdom.  But, the end of the Dark Kingdom doesn't end the series, it was getting underway.  Sailor Moon and the senshi continue to fight against other evil forces from the Black Moon Clan to the Death Busters while trying to maintain balance in her normal life.

Even though the manga and anime were great, but they were key differences between the two.  But I will tell you about it next time. Until then, Stay Gold and Godspeed.

The Ultimate Boss: ABC Family and Disney Jr.

Welcome to another instalment of 'Ultimate Boss'. A segment that basically informs the viewers about how I would do things if I was the boss of,well....anything.

Today,I'll be focusing on the Remaining 2 Main Disney Networks:.ABC Family And Disney Jr. Here are the main things wrong with them.

- First and Formost a 24/7 Pre School Network is Just Retarded. And on top of that The Name of this network is a blatent rip-off of Nick Jr.
- ABC Family is in an Eternal Rut. Mainly because of the original Programming that they air(and renew for more seasons). These shows are horrible.
- Another thing ABC Family's got going against it is..The F'n Gilmore Girls. That show has been on ABC Family for almost a Decade. It's Time For That Crack Hoe Show To Go.
- The Movies ABC Family airs Suck too..especially their Originals. Only a handful of movies that air on that network are good...but they don't air often.
- The Harry Potter Weekends are ok..If Done Twice a Year. These Morons treat The Potter Movies like they're something special. The HP Movie Marathons happen Every Single Month. It's Just Gotta Stop. More proof that ABC family is in a rut.
- The fact that ABC Family is getting bitchslapped Ratings wise by the ever-so retarded TeenNick. How embarrassing!

Here's a list of things that I would do to save These networks:

- First,I'd turn Disney Jr. Into a 22/7 Disney Movie Network.
- I'll rename Disney Jr. to The Disney Movie Network.
- I'd air the various Disney specials on that network as well.
- Create better Shows and Movies for ABC Family.
- Aquire better Shows and Movies for ABC Family.
- The Harry Potter Weekends will be Twice a Year Only.
- Create Specialized Blocks for Disney Movie Network.
- Rename ABC Family to ABC Ultimate. The network needs a name that sounds cooler.
- Create a 4 hour Anime Block for ABC Ultimate (maybe!).
- Keep the 700 Club and force Pat Robertson to make it more entertaining.
- Get Rid of The Gilmore Girls And Most Of The Original Programming.
- Make a block solely for Retro Sitcoms.

Not bad, huh? i'll be posting the line-ups soon. In the meantime, check out my show ideas.

Toon Ninja Reviews: Episode 1 - Bionic Six (guest co-host, Max Steel)

*Megaman: Maverick Hunter X promo theme plays*

*Applause*

Hiya folks.  I am DragonRanger1, but you could call me Jason.  And welcome to the debut episode of Toon Ninja Reviews.  This show is about reviewing cartoons from those of the nostalgia age like the 80s and 90s to the early modern hits in the early days of the new millenium. We are going to have some fun here and you won't be disappointed. But, before we get started, let me introduce to you to our special co-host for this episode. He is one of Kids WB's rising stars and a bionic superhero in his own right.  Let's give a big Toon Ninja Reviews welcome to aspiring extreme sports star/bionic super agent, Josh McGrath, better known as Max Steel.

*Max Steel theme plays; applause*

Welcome to the show, Max.

Max Steel: Thanks, Jason.  It is a great pleasure to be on your show.  Nice to meet a newest member of the Cartoon Historian.

Thanks, Max. Stefan needs alot of help to make Nostalgia cool once again, especially here in the new millenium.

Max: No Problem, Jay.

*Jason smiles*

Anyway, the reason Max is my co-host for this episode is because of this one show I am going to review today. This is one of the most underrated yet popular cartoons in the 80s.  This one is about a family.  But not just any family, they are a Super, Future Family. I am talking about this awesome gem of a action cartoon.  Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you...Bionic Six.

*Bionic Six theme song plays*

In the near future, Jack Bennett, a test pilot who is also known as bionic super agent, codename: Bionic-1, was enjoying a happy, healthy family vacation at the Himalayas, along with his wife, Helen, their kids, Eric and Meg and their foster sons, J.D. and Bunji. Until one day, an alien race crash landed on Earth, which triggers an avalanche, buring them and were exposed to a strange form of radiation from a mysterious object that was buried, causing the whole Bennett family to be infected except for Jack, who is immune thanks to his bionic implants. Fearing that they might not live, Jack took his family to his mentor and friend, Professor Amadeus Sharp, who install some bionic implants to save their lives. Now revived, the whole Bennett family got extraordinary bionic powers and must fight to protect the world from the evil Dr. Scarab and his minions as the Bionic Six.

Max: Wow, that some intro. Can't quite remember how this show came to be.  Can you help me out?

Certainly, Max.  Did you ever heard of shows, The Six-Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman?

Max: Yeah.

Think of Bionic Six as an animated homage to The Six-Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman. I'm sure Lee Majors and Lindsey Wagner like this awesome show.

Max: I'm sure they are.

*Jason smiles*

Alright, let's get moving! Bionic Six was made by TMS Entertainment, which I will talk about in a moment, and was licenced by MCA-TV, which is now called NBC/Universal Television Distribution.  That's right, the same Universal who did both The Six-Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman.

Max: Wow! They did that? Gee...it's just too bad they don't do cartoons anymore.

Tell me about it. *facepalm*

Anyway, here is the premise or in this case the story of Bionic Six.

The Bionic Six, just like the Fantastic Four, the Secret Saturdays and the Incredibles, are a family of superheroes, a super, future, BIONIC family. They got their super powers from bionic implants by Professor Amadeus Sharp and must use them to stop the evil Dr. Scarab, who is, dramatic pause please, Professor Sharp's brother.  Scarab's goal was to find a way to gain immortality, whether from magic or steal Professor Sharp's bionic technology for his evil purposes and use it to take over the world.  Here is a rundown of the Bennett family;

Jack Bennett, a.k.a. Bionic-1 is the main protagonist of the series. When he is not fighting evil as Bionic-1, Jack is a test pilot and honorable family man. Speaking of which...

Helen Bennett a.k.a. Mother-1, is Jack's wife. Not only a devoted wife and mother, but also a full time oceanographer and marine biologist. Wish my mother was like Helen.

Eric Bennett a.k.a. Sport-1, is Jack and Helen's son. Dude's a big time fan of Baseball and is really good at it. And for the record, I may be a Yankees fan, but I'm a Mets fan, first and foremost.

Meg Bennett a.k.a. Rock-1, is Jack and Helen's daughter and Eric's twin sister. Young, spunky and is fan of Rock music, hence her codename, Rock-1. She is also known for speaking in futuristic slang (e.g. Mega-bummer, Ultra-slammin', So-Lar!). She's the type of character who likes to fight baddies and blow bubble gum at the same time. Looking back on it now, because of her spunkiness, and her future slang, she is become one of my favorite characters, next to her mother, Helen. Super, Mega, Ultra, AWESOME SAUCE!!

J.D. Bennett a.k.a. I.Q. The Bennetts' african-american foster son. He's the smart one of the group and is the only member of the Bionic Six whose codename is different from the others. And did I forget to mention that he's an amateur boxer.  And finally...

Bunji Bennett a.k.a. Karate-1. Just like J.D., Bunji is also the Bennett's foster son whose grandfather disappeared 10 years ago. He is japanese-american and he's an martial arts expert. Love the headband, though. It is so Ryu-ish.

The Bionic Six often accompanied by their robotic gorilla, F.L.U.F.F.I. He is programmed to serve the Bennetts whether at home or at a mission to stop Scarab. Though, he has a crazy, obsession of eating alluminum cans. Awkward.

Finally, their mentor; Professor Amadeus Sharp is the Bionic Six's liason in their missions and the one responsible for giving them their powers through their bionic implants. Sharp is a brilliant scientist who studies in the field of not only bionics, but also aeronautics, animatronics, archaelogy, and neurology.  Dude's a jack of all trades when it comes to science. There are other heroes I like to talk about but I got a long way to go in this review. I had my say on the heroes.  Max, why don't you tell us about the main baddies.

Max: Sure. If Dr. Evil and Mother Brain gave birth to their love child, this main baddie fits the bill, if you are Dr. Scarab that is. As we all know that Scarab, real name Dr. Wilmer Sharp, is Prof. Sharp's brother. Unlike Sharp, Scarab uses his scientific genius for evil purposes in his quest for immortality and world domination. He is what the Ninja Turtles describe Krang as a "bloated beanbag", and rightfully so. With a look and style Scarab has, he would definently give that psycho, Smiley a run for his money.

Wait a minute, I thought your enemy's name was Psycho.

Max: I know.  His name is Psycho.  But I like to call him Smiley.

Oh, right, it's the teeth thing.  Gotcha.

Max: Anyway, to combat the Bionic Six and achive his 2 goals, Scarab has enlisted the aid of 5 lesser individuals, who got bionic implants of their own and uses them for their evil purposes.

Glove is Scarab's second in command, whose glove blaster on his left hand can fire both beams and projectiles. Just like the evil Decepticon Starscream, Glove wants to get rid of Scarab and wants to be leader.  No honor among thieves as they say.

Mechanic is a dim-witted brute who uses his tools as weapons, including a giant wrench. Although mean and brutish, he has a soft spot for animals and children's t.v. shows. CREEEEEEEEEEEEEPY!

Chopper, hence his name, rides a three-wheeled motorcycle, wields a chain and does vocal sounds that emulates a motorcycle reviving up. You thought Michael Winslow had it bad.

Krunk is a walking, breathing glue monster.  What he lacks in intellience, makes up with brute strength. Grossness Infinity!

Finally, there is Madam-O. Though elegant, mostly, just like a rose, she will prick you like a rose and her sonic harp will ring your eardrums.  She is one of three female animated characters who often use the word, "Darling," the other two are the Baroness from G.I. Joe and Edna Mode from The Incredibles. Need I say more, darling?

No, not at all, Max.

Max: Like most evil villains, Scarab has his army of grunts, in the form of robots call Cyphrons.  Though they have strength in numbers, but they are not very efficient, even if Scarab try to make them more dangerous and smart.  There are other villains such as the Shadow Boxer and even a female version of Scarab called Scarabina (creepy with a capital "C") but they are not as dangerous as the main baddies here, so there.

I'll say.

Max: Well, since you know so much, why don't tell us about the Bionic Six and Scarab's crew's powers.

Certainly, as I stated before, the Bionic Six got their powers from their implants by Professor Sharp.  Here are their powers and I hope I remember correctly.

Bionic-1's powers are the same as that of Steve Austin, the Six-Million Dollar Man himself. Bionic strength, speed, enhanced sight and hearing, you name it.  But the one other power Jack has that Steve doesn't, laser vision.

Mother-1's powers enables her to see the future, turn on machines with her thoughts and is a telekinetic, as seen in the intro where she lifts a steel girder, with nothing but her finger.  That is awesome!

Sport-1 has electromagnetic powers that attract or repel metal objects with tremendous force, meld them together or rip them apart. He can also use other objects like steel beams or lampposts as baseball bats to deflect energy blasts and incoming objects with extreme force. Dude gives the whole new meaning the phrase, "Batter-UP!"

Rock-1, although she is fast as her Bionic cohorts, is the fastest of the group and sonic blasters on her shoulders.  Talk about Rock 'n' Roll.

I.Q.'s implants makes him not only super strong like Bionic-1, but it also makes him super smart.  A super genius Reed Richards could be proud of.

Karate-1's implants enhances his already well-developed martial arts skills, so, 'nuff said.

To activate their powers, the Bionic Six slam their rings into their wristcomp and shout out, "Bionics ON!" They could also amplify their powers by holding hands to create a Bionic Link. And just like you, Max, their bionic energy drains after their powers are exausted and need to recharge back at Sharp's lab.

Max: Ouch.

It's OK, Max.  Your secret is safe with me.  For travel by land and by air, the Bionic Six have the Sky Dancer and the M.U.L.E.S. van. The Sky Dancer is a supersonic jet that kind of resembles Sky Lynx from season 3 of Transformers.  And M.U.L.E.S., which stands for the Mobile Utility Energizing Station, is their mobile base that has their motorcycles and Quad ATV for land travel and such.  If you ask me, they are loaded.

As for Scarab and his goon squad, they can enhance their powers by slamming their fists into the scarab mark on their chest and yell, "Hail Scarab!" It also works well in their mastery in disguising.  Need I say more?

Max: That's alot of bionics.

I'll say.  Now that the character, story, and powers part is done with, let's get the details on how awesome this show was. Let's start with the animation itself.

The animation was done by the famed japanese studio, TMS, Tokyo Movie Shinsha, best known for not only animes like Akira and some of the Lupin III movies, but also cartoons from Disney cartoons like Ducktales and the Adventures of the Gummi Bears, to other cartoons like the 90s Spider-Man and even another underrated classic, The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers. Which explains why the cartoon has an anime-like feeling, including the "Bionics ON" transformation scene and believe me, cartoons
like that in the 80s are Sugoi, that's how the japanese say awesome.  Take it away, Max.

Max: Speaking of everything japanese and anime related, the chief director for Bionic Six is Ozamu Dezaki, who also directed the first line of Lupin III anime, as well as the original black and white classic Astro Boy anime.  The dude's a legend, especially being a close friend the late great Ozamu Tezuka.  Other than the animation that made 80s cartoons great, let's talk about the music.

Good call, Max! The music and especially it's theme song, was done by the team of Thomas Chase and Steve Rucker, who did other cartoons like Ducktales, Dexter's Laboratory, Mr. T, Pirates of Dark Water, and even the animated movie, Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. Their music is always adventurous in the shows we watch.  Who does not like that theme song? Like the lyrics say, they are indeed a Super, Future Family. By the way, did you know that Steve Rucker was a drummer of the hit music group, the Bee Gees?

Max: Really?!

Yep. Just like John Travolta, Bionic Six is indeed staying alive, as long as they a strong fanbase. Anyway, Gordon Bressack and Jean-Marc Lofficier did the writing for the show. Some of the writing could be funny with Doc Scarab's one liners like quoting something out of comic books and and some could be serious in nature.  Bressack and Lofficier were also writers for Ducktales and The Real Ghostbusters in some episodes.

Max: Scarab said comic book-like one liners?

That's for another time, dude.  Now, the final part of how great this show was, the voice acting. Let's go for the voice actors I know. For the voice of Bionic-1 and Krunk was none other than John Stephenson.

Max: Wow! Mr. Slate voiced Bionic-1?

That's right, and when he voices him, he is trying to be more like Lee Majors than Mr. Slate and/or the original voice of Dr. Benton Quest before the late, great Don Messick voiced him. Anyway, Mother-1 is voiced by Carol Bilger.  She is the perfect voice for bionic mother like her. For Dr. Scarab, he was voiced by Jim MacGeorge, who was not only did voice work in other cartoons like Beany and Cecil and appeared in live action shows like Get Smart and Happy Days (AAAAAY!!), but he also a writer who worked at Jay Ward Productions, that's right, the same company known for the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. Moving on, Professor Sharp was voiced by Alan Oppenheimer a.k.a. Skeletor from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Jennifer Darling provides the voice of Madam-O, darling.  Darling provided the voice for Not only Irma from the legendary 80's TV Show,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But,she's also the English Voice of Princess Ayeka from Tenchi.

Here is an interesting note, both Alan Oppenheimer and Jennifer Darling appeared in both The Six-Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman.  Look, I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't talk about Bionic Six without talking about the two shows that were the inspiration of this classic cartoon. Take it away, Max.

Max: Like he was saying, Rock-1, the super, mega, ultra, awesome gal, was voiced by Bobbi Block, who also voiced the Misfit Roxy from Jem.  What a coincidence. In one show, she fights evil and in one other show, she causes mischief. Rock 'n' Roll can do crazy things. Anyway, Karate-1 was voiced by Brian Tochi, who did not only voice work as Leonardo from the first 3 live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies, but just the voice not the man in the suit and voiced Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, but also appeared as Takashi from the Revenge of the Nerds movies and as Nogata from Police Academy 3 & 4.

I like Police Academy 4, especially its theme, CITIZENS ON PATROL!!

*imitating rap*

Max: Jason, we got a review to finish.

Oh, sorry. Anyway, Hal Rayle voiced Sport-1, Norman Bernard voiced I.Q. and F.L.U.F.F.I. was voiced another veteran voice actor, Neil Ross a.k.a. Shipwreck from G.I. Joe, The Green Goblin from the Spider-Man cartoons (well, the 1980s solo cartoon and again in the 90s cartoon) and Commander Keith from Voltron.

Max: Didn't he also voice Pidge?

Yes, but he did it in a squeaky type voice, but that's for another time.  And last, but certainly not least, voicing Chopper, Mechanic and Glove was none other than Frank Welker.  He may be typecast as Freddy Jones in Scooby-Doo, but when it comes to voicing villains, whether its minor one like those three or as major ones like Megatron, Dr. Claw and Dr. Viper, Welker is king of the villain voices.

Max: I'll say. But, why is Welker typecast as Freddy?

That story is for another time, but I just hope deep down Frankie dislikes being typecast in one Scooby-Doo direct to video movie after another.  Speaking of dislikes, what do I DON'T like in Bionic Six, but those are minor ones but I'll address them anyway.  Although I got nothing against the character, F.L.U.F.F.I., to this day, we don't even know what the acryonym to that name means and that bothers me. I know that Viacom is a acryonym for Video and Audio Communications and M.A.S.K. stands for the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand but no acryonym to the name, F.L.U.F.F.I., that really sucks. Another thing that is wrong is the Cyphrons, worst, grunts, ever.  Please, the Battle Android Troopers were more efficient that this and the Putty Patrol were annoying but they were tolerable and efficient, too.  I wish they were more deadly and pose more of a threat to the Bionic Six, but that's just me. Finally, nothing against Madam-O but she is using the word, Darling, way too much. When the Baroness says Darling, she says it with class, and when Edna Mode says Darling, she says it in comedic fashion, so to speak.  For example:

*ala Baroness* Destro, darling, how you been in this dismal day?

or...

*ala Edna Mode* Yes, words are useless, gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble, that's just too much of it, darling, too much!

Compare to them, Madam-O saying darling too much is like Team Rocket use the word, "Twerp" all the time and that annoys me.  And for the record, I, am not, a TWERP! I am nobody's twerp, NOBODY CALLS ME A TWERP!!!

*breathes heavily*

Sorry, lost my cool back there.  But I am ok now. Anyway, moving on. If you look beyond the pet peeves I have mentioned, Bionic Six is still a great action cartoon.  Who does not like bionic superheroes?

Max: Smiley?

*canned laughter*

Speaking of bionic superheroes, after Bionic Six ended, which I will get in a moment, it has spawned many more bionic-themed heroes, whether its from video games or other forms of animation like Capt. Nathan "Radd" Spencer from Bionic Commando, Eclair and Lumiere from Kiddy Grade and even you, Max Steel.

Max: Thanks, Jay.  Nothing wrong with "Going Turbo!" But, why such a great cartoon ended like that?

Good question, dude. Bionic Six began its run on April 19th, 1987 and it ended on November 1st, 1989 and it lasted 65 episodes. For such a great cartoon, it gave us a few more questions than answers, including stoping Dr. Scarab once and for all. That would be a series finale if I ever saw one, but we didn't. After November 1st, the Bionic Six went to the assembly line for good. Like The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, Bionic Six was a target of soccer moms and watchdog groups who complain that
the show had so much violence and such. Overreact much?  And to make matters worse, there was no DVD release and there is not one to this day. Come on, Universal, you had all the time in the world and you didn't put Bionic Six on DVD? I'm not sure what's worst, no Bionic Six DVD release or turning Sci Fi into SyFy (See-Fee)?

*facepalm*

Max: Ouch. Politics do hurt.  No wonder animation is being pushed aside.

I'll say.  Anyway, my experiences with the show is obvious.  I enjoyed it like every other cartoon in the 80s and I was a kid back then. I seen it on WPIX channel 11 in New York City back when they use to show cartoons everyday in the morning and afternoon and in Saturday and Sunday mornings.  I watched it so much I feel like I was in the show, especially the intro, posing with the Bionic Six.

Max: WOW! Those were good memories.

Yeah, but wait, there's more. Other than the cartoon, I used to see that toy commercial with the Bionic Six figures, in transparent die-cast material, mostly in their limbs.  I use to have one of them, I think it was a Bionic-1 figure.  But, I lost it down the road.  But, here is a shocker, the toy company who did the Bionic Six toys was none other than LJN.  Although they are known for making toys, but they are mostly infamous for making bad video games based on movies, and wrestling.  They may be good with toys, but when it comes to video games, never trust the rainbow of doom.

Max: LJN? Are they that bad?

Oh, yeah.  At least they are out of business after their video game sales sunk. So 'nuff said. Bottom Line, if you are fan of both the Six-Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman or you a fan of 80s cartoons in general or have a knack for being bionic, Bionic Six is the one show worth seeing.  If you haven't seen it, you are missing out on this classic gem.  Until it gets a DVD release, with special features of course, there's always YouTube. This is DragonRanger1 saying Stay Gold, Godspeed and...

*Looks at Max and Max looks back at Jason and turn to the camera*

Jason and Max: Bionics...ON!!! *echoing*
